If it were that easy, then everybody would be doing it. It starts with the organization and continues from there, simple as that.

I feel for the guy. He was put in a position to fail, he failed, and then was dismissed before he had the chance to do anything about it.

He had 3 different QB's play, and they traded away their running back mid-season. Of course they went 4-12. They were supposed to.

I agree, but every team with a QB who's winning also has a solid organization behind them. I'm not disputing what S&L's saying, but imo it all starts with the guys upstairs, the decision makers. Will they right the ship? I hope so, but they're sure getting off to a helluva start-lol.

He lost the lockerroom a third of the way through his first season. You want to give him another year to continue to lose it?

Cut bait, move on. Good coaches don't lose 8 in a row and 11 of 12 or whatever the train wreck was. I wanted Chud to succeed as bad as the next guy, but how its a bad thing to fire a coach who's team got worse, I don't understand. In Banner I trust, lez go.

I read that a major reason he was fired was that he wasn't willing to hold players accountable. Examples included Brandon Weeden and Greg Little.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't wonder what Greg Little was still doing on the field at the end of the season. The players may have loved playing for him, but if there's no accountability, why wouldn't they? I don't know how I feel about it or not, but I've listened to a lot of what Haslam has to say, and I'm just hoping that he is trying to turn this into a successful franchise where success is consistent, not just a one and done.

You know that O'Brien is just going to use the browns to get more $$$ out of the Texans so he isnt coming to Cleveland. Oh wait, he is staying at PSU because the one recruit said that Obrien told him that he was not going anywhere.

After this debacle you have to wonder who would be willing to take over? A HC job is always attractive in the NFL for many assistants just wanting to get a HC position.
Will a bigger name former coach want to come in like Norv Turner, or Gruden and Cowher has been looking in cleveland for a house for the last 5 years now.....
Will it be a guy like HOrton who has been itching to get a job?
Will the browns try to do whatever it takes to hire a "big name" because they are fed up with it all?
At some point some of the very good coaches who know they will get their shot will say the heck with the cleveland job and wait for a more appealing position.
Even though Wash has a dickhead owner a potential HC has to like having two valid options at QB. Houston has to be somewhat more attractive than cleveland. Teams like Clev and Minny have to be down the list for many of the beset coaches to want to go there.

1 year? Yeah...they finished 1-9 down the stretch but man they had QB issues, BIG TIME, and traded their RB. That is two very, very high draft picks that the previous regime brought in highly touted that gave NOTHING to the team. Its liket aking someones euchre hand over with 3 tens......shit aint ending well for you.


Something had to went on between the owner and Chud. Maybe Chud refused to buy gas at Flying Js or something.........

Next year if they get a good coach, and a QB, they will be next years KC chiefs...

Would McDaniels really be viewed as an upgrade over Chud?

I feel he got the shaft, but if the "lost the locker room" talk is true, then maybe it was the right move. I just feel you gotta give him more time considering the clusterfuck he had to deal with.

If Hoyer doesn't go down, they might get 3-4 more wins and we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

I'm as tired of coaching changes and rebuilding as any of you, but if you're the front office, and you are certain that he's "not the coach"... then why delay? The front office dumped Richardson as soon as they knew he wasn't going to be the player they hoped....I think they just did the same thing with the coach. You can say whatever you want about it not being 'fair' to Chud because he didn't have a QB( which really isn't completely true)...but good coaches coach their team up, and have them playing hard right to the end. Take Mike Tomlin as an example... Despite the horrid start he kept coaching those guys up all season, and the team got better and better. Compare that to Chud, and the last 6 games of the season where one critical failure to hold a lead led to another and another till the whole thing fell apart.That is not the mark of a good coach.
sure, you could have given Chud another chance and another year.... But why wait?

McDaniels name has come up, but one has to wonder if he would be any good. He totally fucked up the situation in Denver with Cutler, and Marshall, and fought to bring in Tebow.

He wanted fucking Tebow. That alone should show you his talent evaluation skills. He may do well as an OC when the players are put in place for him but to alienate Cutler and Marshall and pick Tebow up in the first round almost makes you wonder if he has what it takes to be a head coach.

Maybe he learned from his mistakes.....

That's why I asked. At no point during his tenure at Denver did he show he had what it took to be successful running the show. Personally, I wouldn't want him. If I were a Cleveland supporter, Wiz would be my first choice.

At the least, that would light a fire in the rivalry games again. Hasn't been much spark or emotion to them in a little while.

On the contrary, I knew exactly who he was.

He was a troll in Philly and make things miserable in that organization. He was always jealous of Andy Reid, and was bound and determined to show everyone here that he was more than just a bean counter.

I have been so down on him because I knew this is how things would play out with him.

This is what happens when you bring Joe Banner into an organization.

He creates distrust and paranoia between the players and front office, and sits around like a half ass version of Dr. Evil.

The guy is a first class bum, and knowing we have a crook for an owner I am not surprised they get along so well.
