You make too many fucking excuses for teams that don't make the playoffs. They didn't get to the playoffs with Cutler this year, not sure what makes you think they would have made it last year with him?

Cutler is the second-to-worst QB in the NFL, and he's an asshat. Without Brandon Marshall he would've been cut.

Lovie didn't always have the tools to get it done in Chicago. When they had a great defense a few years ago, the offense sucked (sexy Rexy). When the offense somewhat caught up, the defense got old.

I don't know if he could have done any better with what he had in Chicago. Much rather be 10-6 than 5-11. 10-6 most years is a playoff lock.

They went 3-5 the second half of the season. It wasn't bad luck, it was a total choke.

Cutler was out at least 1 1/2 of those games. But I don't think choked as much as the true team started showing itself. The defense had so many takeaways and scores the first 8 games, you just knew they couldn't sustain that. They didn't.

I'd like to see what Lovie could do elsewhere.

I think he is a good coach, but the facts are that he hasn't made the playoffs lately, thus he is not a big fish

I think Lovie could get the Browns to the edge of the playoffs (Bengals-like) but piss the fans off while doing it.

Lovie hasn't made the playoffs lately? 9 seasons, 6 .500 or over. 2 were within 1 game of .500. 3 playoff appearances in 9 years. 81-63 record.

In that same span, Cleveland has only had 1 .500 or better season. 0 were within 1 game of .500. 0 playoff appearances. 49-97 record.

Cleveland would be lucky to get Lovie. Wes, to say Lovie isn't a big fish, especially for Cleveland, is ridiculous.

I am saying that he isn't hyped as much because of his teams lack of playoffs....I would be perfectly content with him as the coach.

I can't speak for their fans.....Lovie would be an improvement, but what Lovie has done is not what the Browns ultimately want. Lovie consistently was getting into the playoffs (and I'm sure they'd love that for a year or two)....but they want a championship team over the long haul of the coaching hire....not the Bengals or Bears or Cowboys.

Norv Turner went 56-40 in 6 years at San Diego. 3 playoff appearances. Worst record was 7-9. Maybe the Browns should give him a look too?

Every team wants a championship team, but the Browns need to realize they should get some consistency first. Lovie has done that as a HC.

I'm not a Browns fan and I don't care, but if I were a fan I'd want a head coach with NFL consistency and Lovie would provide that.

I also think Arians would be great for them.

I don't think my reasoning for hiring Lovie was because "he won't suck ass like Norv Turner." I believe my reasoning was that he has a track record of consistently good football teams and, I think, would be a good fit for Cleveland.

Not sure how hard that is.

I look at Lovie Smith like I do with Dusty Baker and the Reds. Yeah, he got us to the playoffs. But I hate him now that we're there (mainly because he'll never win the WS). No thanks on Lovie.

I wouldn't be happy with average and I don't think Lovie is average. Lovie is a consistent winner.
