Yahoo league question...free agents?

So Nate Kaeding was hurt sunday morning, so one of my league owners went to drop him and pick up a free agent kciker, and apparently he wasn't able to since everyone was still on waivers. How do I turn free agents on? lol

This is our 2nd year in Yahoo, I can't believe this hasn't come up before

Oh and that owner lost by 1.2 points on that last minute Brandon Marshall touchdown last night...so ya, he's not happy with me lol

You probably have the waiver setting as Sunday-Tuesday, meaning all FA are put on waivers at 1pm Sunday. Change your waiver type to Game Time-Tuesday, players are put on waivers at the start of their game.

From Yahoo:
Sunday - Tuesday means all unowned players will be placed on waivers at 10:00am PT each Sunday with the claim period ending at 11:59pm PT on Tuesday. First game of the week - Tuesday means all unowned players will be placed on waivers at the start of the first game for that week with the claim period ending at 11:59pm PT on Tuesday. Game Time means all unowned players will be placed on waivers at the scheduled start time of their game. In Game Time Waivers, players on a bye week will be placed on waivers Monday night at 5:30pm pacific time.

I dunno what to tell you then. If he dropped Kaeding prior to 1pm Sunday, any kicker playing Sunday or Monday not already on a team should've been available. If he dropped him after 1pm, any kicker playing in a late Sunday or Monday game not already on a team should've been available (although I'm not sure how it works since Kaeding's game started at 1pm...he probably couldn't drop Kaeding at that point for last week). You can't actually change FA settings, only waiver settings, so it sounds like he's an idiot.

He called me Sunday at like 11 am and said he dropped kaeding but couldn't pick up any kickers they were waiver pickups only which take a day to clear...im so confused lol

We have done our league on yahoo for years. If it's set game time to Tuesday as long as he did it by 12:55 ish he shouldn't have had any problem. Maybe the kicker he was trying to pickup had recently been cut by someone else.

To be honest, this is why I like cbssports.com.

Yes you pay $150/season but man is it so worth it.

Even so, what kicker did he say he was trying to put in? I would (assuming yahoo has this option like cbs does) manually insert him in as the commissioner giving him whatever points that kicker would have had on Sunday.

I would do this in conjunction with an email to the whole league explaining the whole situation, give the timeline, explain that for the integrity of the league, etc you had to give him the kicker he wanted.

Sure the guy who now loses might be pissed, but as long as this guy that tried to put the kicker in isn't your best buddy or brother, the league will understand.

You have to make it 'right' for the integrity of the league.
