Darn tootin! (But I won't be the one to tell him. He's quite large!)
Concerning the camp...
Last night was Tommy Rowlands. Anyone who has been on these types of message boards for any length of time knows my man crush for all that is Tommy Rowlands. I actually stalked hi... scratch that, followed him out to Iowa this spring to watch/support him in the Olympic trials. Was even saving money for a trip to London too. But alas! And really here's the deal... if his technique wasn't so solid, he wasn't so great with the kids, wasn't a Central Ohio high school wrestler, not a Buckeye, didn't say ALL the right things at exactly the right time, I probably wouldn't like him so much. But he has all that. And thus, I am compelled.
I kind of tell you that to tell you this... For the second year in a row, our last night of camp AND the night Tommy was there, I had to attend the Central District Coaches Meeting, and therefore had to leave early. NOT COOL on so many levels, but I digress. Tommy had me so amped up, people at the coaches meeting were telling me to calm down all night. I left the meeting at 9:07pm, got home at 9:43pm (I had to stop at the store for bread for my son and ... "Magic Erasers" because of my daughter. If she wasn't so cute, it'd be easier to discipline her. Anywho, I was so amped I think I was awake in my sleep because I had the worst night's sleep in the histpry of mankind. And THAT! is when you know you are amped up!
All that was a waste of time really. I got on to tell you how great I thought the camp was. I hope the kids enjoyed it as much as I did. One of the great joys at the camp is watching kids work through a given technique for two hours, and then (and here is where the real excitement hits) watching them hit it during the live wrestling portion! It's the ABSOLUTE best!!! One minute they never knew the move existed. The next minute they are trying it, and then, a few short hours later, they are hitting it!
Last year it was an arm spin that honestly, I don't remember Big Lou showing, but more just alluding to. A few kids nailed it! This year it was a cross ankle pick from a 2-on-1 situation. OUTSTANDING!!!!!!
Great camp, great kids, great technicians, great people, great shirts, great evrything! Thanks again.
...grrrrrrrrrrrrreat. And now I'm amped up again!
