Some Laettner stats-

He owns the record for most tournament games played (23) out of a maximum possible of 24 in four years at that time.
He averaged 16.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per game at Duke and is the all-time 3-point shooting percentage leader at Duke with 48.5%.
NCAA Tournament Records Held:
  • Most points scored: 407[SUP][/SUP]
  • Most free throws made: 142
  • Most free throw attempts: 167

When he made his shot against Kentucky, four of us were sitting in a drive thru in a car, watching it on some small BnW tv they had hanging on the wall. Not another single car was in Urbana that night.
We were all cheering for UK.

Those stats aren't anything special. So he played a lot of games on good teams and chucked a bunch. Cut my arm off and put me on Duke's team in the 90's and I bet I could put up those same stats.

He is one of the best college players ever. His NBA career was average at best. He will get some credit/recognition for being on The Dream Team, but that was a token selection anyway.

Sleeper. Shaq did play in college. Laettner was a horrible matchup for him. So there goes that argument.
