Was considering making a new thread but decided just post here.

Anyone ever miss out on purchasing a cool car? Something they could kick themselves for later?

The one I missed out the most, an International Scout 4wd two door. Former USPS truck, so steering wheel was on right side. Looked like a regular scout, didn't have that silly (one-sided) sliding door. The 4WD worked fine, ran like a champ. Some rust, dents here and there.
Coulda' got it for like $600 bucks. Stupid of me....

Still think these old trucks are cool.

Closest thing I could find similar.

First car was my parents 72 Toyota aqua colored station wagon. Ugly but lots of fun in that car. Also had a CB with a PA system.
First vehicle I owned was a 90 Ford Ranger pickup. Had it for 15 years--never had a bit of trouble.

1994 Chevy S-10. Dad bought it new, drove it until my brother got his license. My brother drove it a year and I got it. I was definitely the roughest on the truck. She lived a good life.

I went away to college and got a 1999 Dodge Stratus. Still driving her. She's got over 133,000 miles now. Basically was brand new in 2004 when I started driving it (used to be my grandma's grocery getter). Then in college, it'd sit for many months of the year because I didn't drive much. Definitely put a lot of miles on it in the summers of 2007 & 2008. And have put even more miles on it since then.

I'll bite. Those old IH were tough. As far as cars I've had a couple I missed on/passed and regret.

1. 67 RS Camaro. My Aunt bought this car new. I told her when I was 12 I wanted to buy this car from her when I turned 16. She said "Honey if this car is still running when you're 16 I'll give it to you"...my Uncle sold it while on a trip to Tennessee when I was 14. I believe I saw that same car 4 years later while I was in the same town where he sold it. It was parked like it was broken down/out of gas on the side of the road.

2. 69 Cougar XR7 Convertible. Red on White with white pin striping. Saw this at a car lot when I was 16. I didn't have the money to buy it so I tried to see if Dad would buy it and I'd pay him back. It was kinda rough, but I loved it. He wasn't having it. He said "Son, somebody has already run the dog shit outta this." They only wanted $750.00 for it, but he wasn't having it. Saw a car pretty much identical to it a year or so later at that same lot, but a different name, for $4500.00.

3 69 Ford Torino. White with a black hood. I saw this car in a persons yard that I went to Church with, but waited for a while to ask him about it. I finally asked him about it one day and He referred to it as a Cobra Jet. (I'm not sure if it was a true Cobra Jet or not, but it did have the Cobra emblems near the front wheels and it had the Talladega paint job so it might have been a 'clone'). He said someone is already making payments to him to buy it. Day late and a dollar short. Makes me wish I would have saved my money then instead of spending it on my waste of a girlfriend...but then again she did put out.

When I was 16, I was close to landing me a powder blue 1964 Chevy Impala SS. It looked very similar to the one below. It belonged to a buddy of my dad's who kept it in mint condition. I was in the process of buying it when our family was shipped overseas (my dad was in the AF). When I came back to the states a couple years later he sold it to one of his nephews. The funny thing about that car was shortly thereafter the gansta rap craze became big and guys like Ice CUbe and Dr. Dre were rollin around in those six fours.

Wow! Imagine if ya coulda still had that today.

Speaking of an Impala, shortly after college a friend and I rented a farm house off of "farmer Dick" who is one of those old time farmers who thinks if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Inside the garage at Dicks farm sat his late brothers 1964 Impala (4 door) with less than 30k miles. Dicks brother bought the car new and after driving it home one winter evening (Dicks brother) died in his sleep. Car sat for years in the barn. Some rust but interior was perfect. Still original tires, everything. My buddies parents bought the car, changes the belts, tires and brakes and drove it for years.

Also to note- Farmer Dicks daily driver is a 3/4 ton step-side (early 70's) Chevy pick up that's 4x4. He now has a large diesel tank in the bed and uses it to fuel his tractors out in the field. Hardly any rust, maybe a few small dents and rough paint. Really cool old truck.

Like this but the Chevy orange/red color.

I've known a few farmers around Champaign county, who sat on "barn finds" for a rainy day....
