The leaders of your profession are biased, I am not. Enjoy!

This was neither clever nor witty. It did not help and it did not make me laugh.

That's pretty accurate. Look, just tell your friend not to do architecture. I don't want to be paying for another person to live off the government(read: my tax dollars).

Well technically you are paying for us to work since we are in the Navy and you will also pay for his education with the GI Bill. Thanks for paying your taxes!

I don't have a problem with paying to sustain the Navy nor do I have a problem with the GI bill. I am glad to hear that if he chooses Architecture that he won't have $70k in student loan debt that he will never pay off because he won't find a job other than Target as a department manager.

Locks for a job. Even if your GPA sucks (2.5ish). Not easy majors though...

Software/Computer Engineering
Chemical Engineering
Welding Engineering

Next Level, Pretty easy to get a job but not quite the same demand as the first group

Electrical Engineering

Next Level Better have a 3.3 Minimum, recomend a >3.6. You are a small fish in a big pond

Mechanical Engineering

JMHO

What type of industry does your friend want to work in?

He said he wants to design/build stuff so he really looked into Civil Engineering and Architecture. Maybe even mechanical engineering. Why do you have to have such a high gpa to get a job?

Possibly even electrical since that's sorta what we do now with electronics.

That's like my ex right now paying $25k a year for a photography degree because she got kicked out of the Navy and lost her GI Bill.. Talk about little to no return on investment.

Eh, I'd argue pretty much any engineer can get a job in this economy. I only rag on industrial engineering because its the lowest paid, but you'll still find a job.

Yes she's a she. And she's a great photographer and all but to pay 25k a year for at least 4 years is such a waste. Money pit art school in San Fran.

Oh right, you swing both ways. No doubt its a waste of money, if you're a great artist/photographer you don't need school.

Photography is arguably the most useless major, far exceeding liberal arts majors.

This is good advice here I would like to throw in location of employers in his field. If they are looking for more of a Civil Engineering job he may have to relocate to areas that are building.
