I don't think it has been "confirmed" per se, but it seems like they won't be playing from everything I've read

Anyone want to start a poll for who the ineligible guys are next year?
NOTHING is for sure about next year yet.

Even if Carter is out for the Rose Bowl, it will be because of a coach's decision, not because he's ineligible per the NCAA/school. New eligibility status for fall quarter won't be known until after both spring and summer quarters are completed.

So if Carter is ineligible for the spring, he would still have spring and summer to make up the deficiency.

Stop being so literal. I don't know if it's that you have no ability to relax and joke or what. That comment was a direct jab that every season SOMEONE from Ohio State is ineligible for the bowl game. I simply was looking to start a poll for who everyone thinks will get that nod next season.

Plus, it's not too early for them to know what grades these kids got in the fall quarter. His grades could have been SO bad, they sat him now.

He's at least 6'4 dude. My best friend who is 6'1 got a picture with him on campus, and he's 3-4 inches taller than my buddy.

He's listed at 6'2. But I don't doubt you--didn't think he was that tall though, doesn't look like it on the field.

I'm sure he is, they say most people don't stop growing until they're 25--doesn't necessarily mean people will get too much taller in those last 6-7 years but some do and you know what I mean.

Carter out of Rose Bowl, but what of Rose?
Ohio State has announced that freshman receiver Duron Carter will not be involved in the Rose Bowl. No reason was given, but sources have said academics are the issue.

There was no mention of senior defensive lineman Robert Rose, the other player reportedly also in academic jeopardy. That could signal that Rose is appealing and his status has not been determined.

Two years ago, defensive back Eugene Clifford was suspended from playing in the national championship game, but cornerback Donald Washington successfully appealed a possible suspension and was allowed to participate.

Carter was the No. 4 receiver most of the year, catching 13 passes for 176 yards and one touchdown.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled reading for a Boarding House Bulletin. Here is the latest on Ohio State defensive ends Rob Rose and Keith Wells.

Rose is eligible to play in the Rose Bowl
There were rumors that Ohio State defensive ends Rob Rose and Keith Wells were academically ineligible and would not make the trip to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl. However, a source has informed Bucknuts that Rose and Wells have been cleared academically. They were able to win some type of appeal, re-take a test or turn in make-up work.

Rose, a senior, will be eligible to play on Jan. 1 and provide depth on what is one of the nation's best defensive lines (if not the best). However, as the ninth or 10th DL in the group (Cameron Heyward, Thaddeus Gibson, Dexter Larimore, Doug Worthington, Nate Williams, John Simon, Todd Denlinger, Lawrence Wilson and maybe Garrett Goebel are all ahead of him) we can’t imagine he will play very much. But it's still good to hear that he will be eligible to participate in his final collegiate game. Rose has been in and out of the doghouse throughout his career -- and has never been all that productive (due in part to surgery on both shoulders two years ago) -- but you never want to see a young man go out on a down note.

As for Wells, the sophomore is redshirting this year (he played as a true frosh last year) but he will be able to make the trip and at least dress for the Rose Bowl.

^^Good for them. I guess Carter's situation was too bad to rectify with make-up work or re-taking a test.
