@TheRealTRizzo: Been in Indy for 6 hours and have heard Donovan Mcnabb to the Browns rumors from 3 seperate sources. Your thoughts?
I know it's Rizzo and all, but this totally sounds like something the Browns would do, especially after bringing Childress into the fold now. McNabb's O-coordinator and QB coach (Shurmur) in Philly.

Such a move could also indicate the Browns would be serious about finding a way to get RGIII, as McNabb was an athletic QB coming out of college who had to conform to the west coast.

Not even, fuck a mentor. McCoy had a mentor in Failhomme and Seneca. Top 5 pick, play them right away.

I would like mcnabb as a back up to rg3 if they go that route. He knew what it took to switch to the wco. I definitely wouldnt be against that. However he has to accept that he's going to be a backup

I don't think in this system you could play RGIII right away without ruining him.

Cam Newton had an offense constructed strictly for him and his strengths, which is why he was able to play early and be so effective. If he would have had to run a traditional offense it would have been a disaster for him.

That won't be the case in Cleveland, which is why he is going to need time to learn.

Unless they implement a little wco into packages for him. So he's still learning the wco but yet putting themselves in a position to win

I don't know how I'd feel. I know I wouldn't feel happy, but at the same time, I'm in the stubborn group of people who have a hard time accepting McNabb's totally (and I mean completely) washed up.

I don't know if I'd be pissed, I just know I want McCoy to have a chance if we surround him with a legitimate stock of weapons.

They have a nice young nucleus with Rubin, Taylor & Sheard. They get another young beast at RDE and a couple of solid rotational guys for the DT/DE positions and they are going to have one of the best D-Lines in football.

I wouldn't want McNabb on my team either. Dude has been washed up for a few years now. But signing him would be something the Browns would do.

Heath Evans (10 year NFL full back) ripped Holmgren on radio row this week when comparing playing for Holmgren and Belichek.
The way Evans would not run a team is the way Mike Holmgren did in Seattle. Holmgren was Evans' coach for his first four seasons in the NFL, from 2001 to 2004, before he signed with New England. Evans said he was "ready to retire" because of the clubhouse cancers he encountered in Seattle, and he blames Holmgren for fostering that kind of environment.

"Bunch of selfish guys," Evans said. "Everything from racism to 'I want the ball' to 'It's all about me.' Bad locker room."
Evans said what separates Belichick from Holmgren — and from almost any other head coach he has been around — was accountability.
"Mike Holmgren didn't coach his star players," Evans said. "It's really kind of true. The most talented football teams I was ever on were those Seahawks teams. But they were complete failures. A lack of consistency, a lack of discipline. Mike was mad at Shaun Alexander for skipping a non-mandatory minicamp, but instead of calling Shaun or reaming him out, he finds me buck naked in the shower and reams me out in front of everybody else. Because I was the 'yes, sir, no, sir' Marine corps daddy guy.
"I wish I would have done it my first year, but I finally said, 'For four years you have mistaken my respect as weakness. Don't ever talk to me that way again.' It really changed my relationship with him for the last three weeks of my career in Seattle. I couldn't get out of there fast enough."
Interesting that lack of accountability/discipline seems to be a hallmark of the Holmgren experience. That would pretty accurately describe alot of what has gone on in Berea since his arrival.

Based on the stories I heard about McNabb this season in Minnesota I don't want him within a 60 mile radius of Cleveland next season.

Pretty solid. I wouldn't have RB that high on the needs list though. I also disagree with him about cornerback.

Skrine showed flashes of potential but I wouldn't rely on him yet. Patterson is below average and Sheldon Brown is just a bad corner at this point. The pass defense numbers were inflated by the schedule. Playing Kerry Collins, Chad Henne, Charlie Whitehurst, Blaine Gabbert, Kyle Boller, Bruce Gradkowski/Andy Dalton in his 1st career game, and Sam Bradford (or the Rams offense in general) helped a lot.

The mock is actually very similar to what I posted would be ideal for me, including trading down. I had Kendall Wright instead of Jeffery, but still a WR with the 1st pick. Then I wanted Mercilus/Ingram/Branch and Zach Brown, although I flipped the order (don't think Brown lasts until 37). And I also said RB in the 3rd, but I prefer Chris Polk to James. I'd be pretty happy if things panned out that way, although Jeffery would be my #4 WR at best.
