The Raiders host POWERADE FAB 50 No. 3 De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) Friday in a marquee showdown on ESPN2. The St. Thomas defense will look to slow down Elite 11 QB Bart Houston and the rest of the Spartan offense. Dealing with De La Salle's defense, with perhaps four Division I future college linebackers, also will be a challenge.
The Spartans' defense improved in its second game, pitching a shutout in a 35-0 win at St. Mary's (Stockton, Calif.). The defense even scored when junior linebacker D.J. Moffett picked off a pass and ran it back 38 yards for a touchdown. On offense, running backs Tiapepe Vitale (16 carries, 114 yards, one TD) and Dasmond Tuatalatasi (14 carries, 96 yards, one TD) were the standouts. De La Salle leaves Wednesday for Florida where it will face No. 2 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)
