Great weekend indeed. I still stil boyd his senior year was one of the best all time in the city. He lost to a 2x state champ 3x finalist and a future 3x state champ(who no longer lives in ohio btw.)

It really was the best State Tournaments in the past 25 years. At least it was the best one I've been to (I missed a few between '95 and 2000). Think about it, you had the obvious great team race between Wadsworth and St. Edward that came down to the last two weights, and also that epic fall my Gordon with one second left. But you had some fantastic match-ups and story lines as well. You had Squire getting bookend titles, you had St. Edwards next super star winning the title as a freshman 103. You had Nick Sulzer running through 160 getting a well deserved title after placing the three previous years and the awesome final between Demas and Wheeler at 171.
The above mentioned Mitch vs. Brascetta in DII along with Bo Jordan avenging what will likely be his only loss in high school by beating Nate Skonieczny in the semis. The back story of Felipe Martinez and Tucker Armstrong, the Dylan Ice semi-final "win".
Monroville's title in DIII and the last time anyone will see that kind of talent on one team at one time...ever.
It was truly an unbelievable tourney. I can't imagine how cool it must have been to be a part of it.

My first time going to watch i had been wrestling for about four years but nothing more then practices i was about 8 and all i had seen of the wrestling world was teays valleys wrestling room so as you can imagine when i first saw the tournament and how huge it was and its layout i was really amazed i think thats the day i fell in love with the dream of getting there and the sport of wrestling yet i knew nothing about it hardly and i watch a weekend of state championship wrestling even though i didnt know a single kid there
its still the week i look forward to all year and its well worth all the make up work for missing school
i just hope this year i get to go see it through different eyes maybe as a wrestler rather then a fan

Bitter- That was a great read. I remember you from the Huddle and I never knew your story (not sure if you posted it on there before). I too, have similar wrestling regrets and you summed them up in that story.
