The Central Ohio open mats that have been taking place at Hilliard Bradley for the past month will be travelling to Big Walnut for the month of May on Wednesday nights. We will begin at 6:30 PM and finish around 8. If you are interested in more technique, you may come at 6 PM and drill with VWC.

I think I may be headed up to The Big Nut this Wednesday. It will be interesting to see if the numbers follow from Hilliard...and if they don't, does Hilliard start up again?

Groveport Madison Open Mats were AWESOME last night!!! Great goes all around. And that was WITHOUT the Lancaster and LOGAN guys in the house.

To the heavier guys... Hamilton Township, Whitehall and The Ridge... You guys made my day last night! I hope it was fun for you because if you keep that pace up, great things are going to come your way. Hope to see you Saturday at New Albany, as well as next Tuesday!

It was an excellent room at The Port last night. I didn't see much of what was going on with the light weights, but from 160 up through heavyweight there were good, intense goes from start to finish. Things will only get better with Westie scheduled to come up next week.

I'm hoping that the cometition at The Port, Ready and Big Walnut is enough to prepare me for the Autism Tourny next week.

There were great numbers at Big Walnut last night. A little more structure than I like at an open mat, but to each his own. Tons of wrestlers, a bunch of coaches, that's a great facility...Big and warm. I'll definately be back next week.

It looks like I stand corrected on the Central District Coaches plan to rotate sites. I thought moving an established room would fail and you wouldn't get good numbers at the new sites. But clearly, moving from Hilliard to Big Walnut didn't hurt numbers. And there was definately a north-end favor to the room. Many Northern Columbus wrestlers that didn't make the trek to Hilliard showed up last night ready to roll. So, I was wrong and the Central District Coaches were right.

...at least this week you were wrong. There is always next week.

The great thing about being an eternal pessimist is you are either being pleasantly surprised or constantly proven right!

I agree that we ran it a little too structured. We will try to change that a bit last week. I am going to try to change it up a bit every week, but we still want as many live goes as possible.

80 kids at Big Walnut? That's remarkable. Good for the north part of Columbus. As far as southwest Columbus is concerned, Ready will have it's second edition of open mats this Sunday at 6 p.m. Looking forward to a good workout.

I'll be up at The Big Nut again this week, but the next week is Cruiser's annual Solon Trip, so I'll miss that one. Sundays at Ready, Tuesdays at The Port and Wednesday at Central District Coaches site. My off-season schelue is done.

About 75 kids in the romo tonight. Follow the links below to get a glimpse into the up and coming best open mats in the state. You can see there are youth kids all the way up through the big boys. A lot of good competition in the room tonight.

Numbers were a little down last Sunday at Ready due to it being Memorial Day weekend. We're looking forward to getting back at it this Sunday at 6p.m. We will have camp brochures on hand for those interested in our June 7-10 camp.
