This is what I was basing my no defense opinion on. Texas played a sub par schedule, and haven't played a high power offense. They may very well have a good defense, but from what we've seen, that cannot be said.

Full disclosure, you could say the same about the Buckeye defense. Been stout all year, but against sub standard offenses, haven't seen them against a big offense yet, but we will against Oregon.

Maybe the Texas defense is legit, and they come out, and put Alabama down, but there is no way for us to know that for sure, until they actually play, if Texas comes out and shuts down the Bama offense, I'll be the first to say they have a good defense afterall.

Both teams deserve to play in the National Championship. It's ridiculous to say that Texas is going to get smoked because of the Nebraska game. Alabama wouldn't be in the national championship game if Tennessee's kicker could get an height on his kicks or the referee called Cody for tossing his helmet. That all took place at home too. The fact is teams occasionally struggle against inferior teams. It's only important that they win these games.

No offense, but do you realize how competative div1 football actually is? To say a team has played no one is just ridiculous.
Florida had a great defense, same defense they had last year. The Bama offense isn't anything too spectacular, but they shredded a great defense in Fla. It happens, it can happen on any given Sat.
TExas just went 13-0 in a major conference with team such as TT, Okie State who happen to have very good offenses. The Big 12 wasn't what it was last year, but its still a big time conference. When you play 13 games, and have a defense ranked as high as Texas, it means one thing, they have a really good defense, period.

Give Texas some credit....they had the pressure all season long as the team that was going to play Florida for the title. They held up. Florida didn't. Its never as easy as some of you think it is.

We may have heard it, but anyone that believes it is an idiot. Again they played 3 (THREE) BCS conference teams OOC, and again with one of them winning their respective BCS conference. Texas played 4 OOC lackeys this year. Why their AD made that schedule is beyond me, but any team that expects to play for national championships NEEDS to schedule at least one BCS conference team OOC.

It isn't Texas' fault that the Big 12 was down this year, but they didn't do themselves any favors by not playing anyone OOC. At any rate, it is laughable the way Ohio St. was treated in 2002 only because they weren't highly ranked going into the season yet the media is making excuses for Texas this year (the cnnsi.com headline story this morning was pathetic) just because they were annointed a contender from the beginning of the year.

I agree, Bama should win easily if they play like they did last night. Even if Texas plays the game of their life, Bama should win if they can play to the level of last night's play.

Bama is good, no doubt. But they are far from invincable. They played as well as they could yesterday. I am not so sure they can do that back to back.

As I said in the post that you quoted, it wouldn't be a shocker if TExas won. Bama is the better team though. If both teams play to their highest capability, Bama is better. Now will that happen? We don't know. Both coaches are great, although I think Saban is just a bit better than Brown, both are top 5-10 coaches.

If Saban wins, he'll be the second coach to win two BCS titles and the first to win a BCS title at two different schools. Shows that Saban is one of the best in college. Top 3 for sure.

Agreed. TCU plays in one of the worst conferences in the country. Who have they defeated in the top 15? One on one, Texas would stomp TCU 10 times out of 10. It's not even close. In fact, I bet Texas second team would beat TCU.

If you hate the BCS like I do, then I understand you rooting for TCU. But, if you have an ounce of clue, you'd realize TCU is NO Texas, and never will be.

TCU went on the road and beat two ACC teams. Texas couldn't be bothered to play a BCS conference team.

If the Mountain West is one of the worst conferences they'd done a poor job of being such, the bottom of the conference is pretty awful but Utah, BYU and Air Force typically field competitive teams, hell Utah has won a BCS game recently.

Sagarin has them it as the highest ranked non-BCS conference, this isn't the Big South, and statistically isn't that much worse than the Big 12 this year which probably had its worst year in a decade....I'd dare anyone to look at Texas' schedule, TCU's schedule, ignore who the team is and actually say that Texas was that much more impresive than TCU has been.

HAHAHAHA that is absolutely laughable. Kind of like Utah didn't stand a chance against Alabama last year? This isn't the 1950s where teams had unlimited scholarships and hoarded players. TCU would most definitely play Texas tough and definitely could win. The Mountain West is a pretty good conference. Like the poster above said, sure the basement is pretty bad, but its not like the Big 12 doesn't have its perennial doormats. Heck, the Big 12 North is absolutely atrocious outside of Nebraska. The best of the Mountain West could compete with anyone in any given year.
