Has anyone found how much money this will save our state each year? In an article about Wisconsin, they predicted about 300 million out of a deficit of 3.9 billion. So basically 1/13th of the problem.

No one said this is the final end all/be all, there will be more cuts to come in other areas as well.

What areas? Anyone know? My only major problem with this bill is the unnamed plan on the merit system. I would think one would want to have something lined up on this issue.

Well on my end, I don't really need anyone. All of you are retarded and wreck your cars horrifically and hurt yourself with chainsaws, etc. My future is set no matter what the economy is lol.

I raise my own kids sir, I understand that quite a few idiot parents send their kids off to school with no breakfast, no lunch, and expect the school to take care of everything. I know some idiot parents never help their kids with their homework, projects, etc.

However, in my house we eat 3 meals a day, provided by us (not school free lunches) and everyday as soon as i get home from work it is always homework time with dad to answer any questions.

So no, the school isn't raising my kids, my wife and I are raising them.

The day a school or teacher takes on the role of raising my kids is the day they are no longer the school or teacher we choose to assist us in the educational process.

This will have major impact at local levels, like school districts, by giving them more control over costs. Obviously, staffing is the bulk of what it costs to run a school district.

As for the state, every penny counts at this point, and I'm thinking this will probably end up saving more than that when everything is taken into account.

It is easy to tell when someone has run out of intelligent things to say... they resort to ad hominem attacks or resort to talking about things that have nothing to do with the discussion at hand (e.g. post counts). Instead of just repeating the same list of people and making blanket statements how it is bad, you could become involved in the discussion in a meaningful manner.

To be fair to bonelizzard, I think he was trying to be involved in a relevant way. I can't question his motives, and I'm not going to belittle him otherwise.

Whoever made the comment about a 4-day weekend. I have the day off today, but only because we had PT conferences on Wednesday/Thursday night. We have school on Monday. Not that any of you care, but I didn't get home until 10:00 on Wednesday b/c of work commitments and 8:30 on Thursday b/c of conferences. I rule.

I don't disagree that he is trying to be involved. That's why I threw in the word meaningful. Generally the politics board here tries to refrain from a lot of the lousy rhetoric that happens in the rest of the forums on this board. All I was saying is that everyone should stay to the topic at hand and end the discussion of post counts. And on that note, I'm going to stop with my criticizing of said activity as well. Just get back to discussing Senate Bill 5.
