Im out...unless I get summoned :)

No. We limited his open enrollment to one school per HS career.

If....if we were to drop Triway...it wouldnt be to replace them with a WCAL school.

From a business side, Orrville vs. Triway is a good gate between 2 local schools...I'd hate to see it go away.

I'm glad there was still housing available in the Triway district, or else we woulda been screwed.

Agreed. It is still a rivalry between the two schools (IMO, a rivalry is between schools, not necessarily specific sports). It's a good gate for both schools; and if we keep winning games like we have the last 3 years, I think we give Orrville a good game in terms of computer points, too, if they beat us.

Wow!! that thing had some legs. I knew that comment would stir the pot but I had no idea it would go that crazy. I love the Orrville fans. I was talking to an Orrville buddy when I posted that and he told me everyone would go wild. That was actually kinda fun. Some of the posts were actually comical. I'm sorry I got you fired up 5knots. I know you're passionate about the game and you defend OHS very well....not that they need it. Hat's off to you.

As for the billboard fodder I provided with my comment, I think the Orrville fans provided a lot more if it would end up being necessary ( Orrville's freshmen...haha).

For the record, I dont have a son playing football for the Cats. I do know that they are an outstanding group of young men and have worked extremely hard to have the success they've had to date. I can't think of 1 kid on that team that runs his mouth or talks about how great they are. If you speak to the players you'll sense a quiet confidence but they're not taking anything for granted. They have adopted a " 1 game at a time " attitude and all of this talk about playing Orrville in the playoffs couldnt be further from their minds. They have some lofty goals but they know there is a lot of work ahead.

As a sidenote I understand Norwayne went 7 on 7 with Northwest yesterday. From what I hear it was pretty even. Some good and some bad from both teams but Norwayne was definitely not out of their league Oh and I almost forgot, West Holmes cancelled the 7 on 7 they had scheduled with Norwayne on Thursday. I guess their old coach (MAltarich) finally realized he was going to get hammered by the kids he left 3 years ago. That's not good when you're a big school getting it from a small school

I think that if I were a WH fan I would certainly keep my mouth shut about another teams lack of passing game. Does WH even know that if someone throws the ball it will fly?

It's pretty common amoung these local HOF's that the electing body does not nominate candidates. Community involvement eleminates the kind of controversy and injustices that are being discussed here. Perhaps the committee could have done a better job of involving the public but they don't really have an extensive budget. The time to get involved in the process is before the election. We have had a number of candidates that have numerous nominations and some that were quite extensive. That certainly is a factor when the board considers a candidate.
Ok, he's was nominated, and not by members of the electing body. Again, with all his credentials, with all that he's accomplished for Orrville High School Athletic's, the question is asked again, how could he not be elected in the OHSAHoF?

I haven't "thinly veiled" or anything! If you want it to be an accusation, then the accusation revolves around this simple statement...How could any voting member on that board ignore the accomplishments of that athlete that helped to bring their high school, their alma mater, their beloved Red Riders back-to-back state championships and gave Coach Smith his 2 championships and not unanimously elect him into the Hall of Fame?

RR1, if you have voted for him as you said that you have, you've listed his accomplishments and stats on several occasions, you don't ask at least yourself that question?

However, if brf says he knows the answer why Marcell wasn't voted in I'm willling to believe you know also. Perhaps it's a secret!

You say I'm making accusations of an injustice, what do you call it?

I found out that what I thought the reason was, it was not. (I was under the mistaken impression that he had refused the nomination.) IMO, he should be in.

Series..I have no idea at all why he is not in either based soley on his athletic accomplishments. Arguably the best athlete that has ever graduated from Orrville!

However, I have heard that he made some comments or something on facebook?? regarding "Orrville politics??"

I say this in no way to offend anyone, especially Marcell. He is a friend of mine. This is just what I heard through the grape vine.

You are thinking of another great Orrville Athlete who SHOULD be in and would've been in THIS year but he is declining until Marcell is in....I think you guys know who I mean.

They were comments directed toward the board specifically and in a very accusatory way. Saying it was about "Orrville politics" is putting it mildly.

No member of the board owes any explanation as to his/her vote....and there is no rigid guideline as to how one has to vote.

No one can argue his achievements and I still believe his time will come.

I have deep respect for he people on the board...it's a great mix of people who give back tirelessly to this community...and as evidenced by recent discussion...get very little gratitude for doing so.

If you read the July 15th OrrViews then you already saw this...but I thought this was a great article. Worth a read for anyone, especially Red Rider fans.

Mr. Williams sounds like a great man....I know he spoke to the team either last year or in 2009 during Wooster Week i believe. Great to read about people who have found success in life but never forgot their roots.

One of my proudest moments of my high school sports fandom career, was when I met "Squirrel" last year prior to the Wooster game. I love hearing the stories of those old timers.

One of the best heartfelt talks ever given. A man of his experience and success spoke with a passion of playing in the Orrville - Wooster game unmatched. He is a and should be an example to our kids here in Orrville that the only one you can blame for your failure to achieve in life is your own. there are people in this town eager to help our kids who struggle, white, black, hispanic, asian, single parent, no parent, 2 bozo parents, it doesn't matter to those who want to help. The decision has to come from the one in need and to choose to do right. You make that choice every time not just when it is convenient and success will cling to you and this community will support you. What an honor for me to have met Mr. Willams and to have my son hear his words first hand. thanks for posting that RedRider1

I will add my congratulations for Miss Monheim as well. I just finished the article. Congratulations.

I personally like the Wooster v. orrville game being on Saturday night, brings out a better local crowd, and let's them share in the rivalry game.
