That's because he's a huge Red Sox fan and he's trying to "jinx" them. And I'd take the over for the Cavs at 29 wins.

Hawks have more talent that the Cavs, I cant deny that.

As for the Hawks. I think that team needs to trade J Smith. That team is never going to win a thing in the Eastern conference. Its time to move in another direction. They decided to pay Johnson (a big mistake) so they might as well get something for Smith while they can.

I agree, they WAY overpaid for Johnson,I mean hes a great player, but he is not a max contract guy. It will be interesting to see if anybody makes an offer for Smith. Wishfully thinking as a Nuggets fan...I wouldnt mind throwing some high draft picks and a player or w/e @ the Hawks for Smith. In hopes to keep Melo around. But in all reality i know hes as good as gone

Smith would be a great 2nd option. He def doesnt deserve all the money they gave him.

Sucks about Melo, might as well trade him and get as much as you can

Ok. I know you're not being serious now. I could be wrong, and the Cavs could win some games, but I really doubt that they are better than any of those teams.

I'd say the Heat, Celtics, Magic, Hawks, Bulls, and healthy Bucks are better for sure. Any other team is a toss-up IMO including the Bobcats and Knicks.

The important point to me is that the Cavs CAN compete for a playoff spot which a lot of people in the media and on here don't think they can. I'd also give them an advantage in a close playoff race because a lot of guys on the roster do have playoff and big game experience.

The Cavs will make the playoffs, but they won't get out of the first round.

Some people honestly think the Cavs don't have any talent... This is mind boggling. This team, as is, is good enough to win 40+ games.

It's mind boggling that someone would think they do have talent. Who are their talented players? Varejao? Gibson? Jamison? Hickson? Mo Williams?

There are plenty of teams in the NBA where those guys don't even start, yet they are going to be relied upon to lead the Cavs to 45 wins?

Cavs dont have any talent now? Mo Williams was an all-star a couple years ago and now he doesnt have talent. Jamison is a career 19 and 8 guy. Hickson is only 21 yrs old. Varejao was considerred for the 6th man of the year.

You're already starting with the hating before the season starts? Wait, you claim you're a Cavs fans..........gimme a fucking break

I doubt it, but even if he did you would never see the money. He couldn't even kep his promise to stop posting for a month if the Cavs lost to the Celtics last year.

Mo Williams was a backup All Star, and the only reason is because the Cavs had the best record in the NBA and only had one All Star. It was more of a courtesy to the Cavs than due to performance.

Jamison is a HUGE liability on defense and although he scores 19 a game, how many does he give up? He's not a top 10 PF in the league, and might not even be a top 15.

Varejao benefited, like Mo Williams' All Star birth, because he played on the best team in the NBA. He averaged 8.6 and 7.6. Guess who else averaged similar numbers as the great Anderson Varejao?
Jermain O'Neal - 13.6 and 6.9
Jason Thompson - 12.5 and 8.5
Taj Gibson - 9.0 and 7.5
Brendan Haywood - 9.1 and 9.3
Jonas Jerebko - 9.3 and 6
DeJuan Blair (My Guy) - 7.8 and 6.4

That's just a quick list of guys I found, so, let's keep Varejao in perspective. He's a dime a dozen guy in the NBA, and I know people want to overvalue his energy, but that only matters on a good team.

Exactly like him, except for points, rebounds and that 2nd Team All-Defense. Andersen is a very good role player but I think Andy has a chance to become a legitimate starter in this league in the next few years. For me an easy way to compare players is if I would trade one for the other and I wouldn't trade Wild Thing for Birdman.

Dude, your justification for your comment is awful. How about explaining yourself?

It's more of a credit to the team's success. Lebron James was a more important defender than Varejao. Let's see how valuable his defense is now that Lebron is gone. His value left with Lebron.

BTW, it still escapes me why people consider Varejao such a good defender. I admit that I like his energy, but he gets abused by the good big guys in the NBA. The guy averaged 7.6 rebounds, .88 blocks and .93 steals per game. Hardly anyone I would consider to be a great defender.

Please explain that to me. What does legitimate starter mean? Is anyone that starts, a legitimate starter? Or do you mean an above average player, amongst starters?

The guy is 28 years old, so he's in his prime right now. You think he continues to improve?

What do you see as his ceiling, stat wise?

Why are you comparing their career numbers? If you want to look at a whole career, how bout the numbers they actually put up, not projections.

Chris: 5.4 ppg 5.3 rpg 0.5 apg 0.4 steals 1.6 blocks .497 fg%

But again, why are you talking about career numbers? Varejao is entering the prime of his career and he still puts up better numbers then Andersen does in his best seasons.

Neither of us is going to agree, but I would never trade Varejao for Andersen.

I mean he becomes a top-10 players at his position, someone who would start for most teams in the league. As you say he is now entering his prime and watching his offensive and defensive games improve the last two years leads me to think he will be even better this year. As for stats, 12-15 points, 10-12 rebounds a game this year. Those numbers put him around 7th amongst centers in the league, below Howard, Brook Lopez, Chris Kaman, Bogut, Bynum and about even with Al Horford and Marc Gasol. Not out of the realm of possibility in my eyes that he's in that group.

So theyre basically still the exact same player even by the #'s you brought up. Except for one is massively overpaid for putting up those numbers.
