I have the option of picking up Clayton and dropping Garcon.

Who should I want on my team?

While I love Garcon, I think I'd rather have a teams #1 with a strong armed accurate QB who was targeted 16 times last week as opposed to Peyton's #3 target.

Thoughts?

Imo, Clayton. Garcon will have some big games, but there are just two many receivers for the Colts. Outside of Dallas Clark, I don't believe any of them will have consistent weeks. Luckily, I have Dallas Clark!

You know Reggie Wayne is on the Colts right? He is pretty consistent.

Garcon is definitely the Colts #2 WR as well, not their number 3. He has the physical tools to be like a Miles Austin and I expect the Colts to be throwing the ball a ton this year. That said, its tough to shy away from a true #1 on a team.

I would probably pick up Clayton. Who else is on your roster you could drop ahead of Garcon. He is going to end the year with like 7 TDs and 800 yards I think.

He is basically saying you're crazy if you don't think Wayne won't also have consistent weeks. But I agree with Laley I'd try dropping someone else other than Garcon if you can.

Wayne is #1, CLark is #2 and Garcon/Collie are number #3/#4...that's the breakdown with that offense.

I was stating Wayne is going to be consistent as well.

Garcon isnt an option ahead of Clark, but I thought you meant depth chart #3 WR. He has big play potential more so than Clark or Wayne. Id expect him to put up good numbers this year, despite being the 3rd option in the passing game.

Garcon also gets plenty of redzone looks. He actually had more in the SB (scored the TD) and had more last week (dropped 3 TD passes, tough catches, but still catchable). Wayne becomes such a focal point of defenses that Clark has benefited in the TD department, and Garcon will benefit as well. He is a target Peyton loves on the fade patterns. He always threw them to Marvin and Reggie, but neither were physical or big enough to actually get a 50/50 ball consistently. Peyton had to make a great throw and rely on their hands to make a great catch. With Garcon, he can be more loose with it and trust Pierre will come down with the football.

I guess instead of saying consistent weeks, I should say be consistent week in and week out. I think Garcon's emergence will take away from Wayne fantasy wise. Dallas Clark is a constant mismatch, so he's gonna get balls thrown his way on a weekly basis. I just think there will be weeks where Garcon is big, and weeks where Wayne is big. There will probably be a few weeks where they both have big games, but it's gonna be hard to predict. Trust me, I know they are both very good WR's, but are there enough catches to go around every week?? Fantasy leagues are won by owners who pretty much know what they are gonna get from a player from week to week. It usually takes 3 or 4 weeks to figure that out. So it might be wise to just let it ride for a few weeks to see what happens. Also, of course he wouldn't drop Garcon if there is someone else he could drop. Mark Clayton is going to be targeted 10-15 times a game.

P.S. I win the award for using the word "week" the most times in a paragraph!!

^^^Thats a better and more fair analysis. I just think, and it could end up being wayyyy wrong, that the Colts are gonna have to throw the ball close to 40 times a week this year. Usually, they are closer to even, despite not having a great RB...they still run to keep a defense honest. But Peyton might have to throw it a lot more this year than usual. The O-Line is just pathetic and wont allow for a consistent running game whatsoever, especially with Saturday out.

My other wideouts are Jacoby Jones, Mike Wallace, Roddy White, Mike Crabtree

I start Crabtree and White, I'm saving Wallace for when Rapelisberger comes back, and I have Jacoby Jones because I'd rather have Houston's #2 (Schaub's my QB) than Indy's #3/4.

I ended up picking up Clayton. I was considering dropping Owen Daniels because I have Jermaine Gresham but I have trouble relying on a rookie TE and I worry that Daniels will quickly put up his numbers from the first half last year before he got injured (best fantasy tight end).

I suppose I have no need for Daniels AND Jones but Daniels since neither are a starter I wanted to keep Jones over Garcon (even though I'm a HUGE Garcon fan), I just couldn't pass up a true #1 that has an established connection with his QB (they worked out in Norman together over the summer).

Collie. Hell, week 1 is likely to be his highest output so good work having him on your roster for that lol.

He is their #4 option, and when Clark goes into the slot a lot of times Collie is less effective. Then if Gonzo comes back they will have 2 slot WRs plus Clark who goes slot often.

At least with Garcon for the OP, you knew he is the second wideout for every formation.
