How do you make players free agents, instead of on waivers?

If a player has never been picked up on a team before, doesn't that mean they are free agents? Doesn't that mean you can just grab them right then and there instead of waiting a day for waivers?

How do you adjust this in your league, as a commish?

Reason why I ask is someone wants to add Brandon Jackson, and he's definitely never been on a fantasy team this season...and he tried to pick him up and he's on waivers for a day...shouldn't he just be able to add him on the spot?

Should be a setting that the commish can change. What kind of league is it? ESPN? Yahoo?

On yahoo there is a setting "Post Draft Players" that can be set so those undrafted players go through the waiver process or they are free agents.

It says "waivers" you can add an amount of time, or simply say no time and make them FAs. I already got fucked over by Non with Dexter McCluster and I am gonna get fucked over again by whoever had the last pick in our draft again here soon.

For ESPN in the settings under "Acquisition and Waiver Rules" and then "Player Acquisition System" set that to No Waivers.

For some reason it's not allowing me to change out of "waivers" to "no waivers"

I dunno, maybe because the season has already started? As long as you are the commish you should be able to change any setting at any point.

yeah that's what I thought too...i'll work on it a few more minutes...everyones yelling at me though lol so I wanna get this done soon.

It might not be able to be changed once the season starts (because the commish could change it to add players he wants and change back). You are probably fucked for the year.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that once the season starts the settings are locked and you can't change them. People in your league are gonna be pissed off. Laley that sucks. I hope I don't get screwed over Im pretty sure I tried picking someone up today might have to go back and check haha.

Yeah, I had first pick, and I understand the waiver policy and our is 2 days I think which isnt bad. So I will get fucked out of any big acquisitions unless I gamble before an injury occurs. But in general I dont like waivers because sometimes people who dont check daily or often get rewarded because of them.
