Yes I would agree. In that sentence, 'to' precedes a noun (A/B/C/D) would all be considered a person, place, or thing. However, in this sentence.... "No wonder our country is totally fucked, the general population (this thread being a good example) is to stupid". The word 'to' precedes an adjective since stupid is describing the general population. It is also being used in an exessive manner. That abcd stuff is not a simple form of what you said-- the complete opposite actually. Sewell did teach me well, however, I thought he would have taught you better. jpake, my use of the word was correct. You need to go back and read the post. You aren't including my entire sentence, which is why you think I'm wrong.

I did read the post, the second part of the sentence doesn't really make sense. It's missing something.

Took me a while to translate it but "to" is the proper form of the word.

A is to B what C is to D. A complex version of that is.... Columbus is to Ohio what Austin is to Texas. In both of those... ABCD and Cbus/Ohio/Austin/Texas are all nouns (places or things). In your actual sentence...

Both stupid and gay can be used as nouns. Grab a dictionary.

It really doesn't. NBA playoffs suck right now. Hockey isn't a HUGE sport for Americans. Baseball is just rolling around. I don't like this time of the year if the NBA playoffs aren't really good.

This was mainly about S&L. Because, ever since the "collapse" thread, he and a few others have gone out of their way to make me look like a fool. I've said in multiple other threads that the whole thing just needs to be dropped because we can't even have a normal discussion around here anymore. Certain people chime in just to try and make me look bad, and it muddies up threads with a bunch of BS. This one being a prime example--especially when they're wrong in trying to do it. We had a 3 page debate over whether I used the right form of "to" in a thread about the President speaking on LeBron's FA. And it just goes to show you how far out of their way they'll go to make me look bad--and as I pointed out, even after he was shown the way, he STILL tried to turn it around on me. I can take it. Trust me, I'm not sitting here crying about it. Just sayin', it's rather annoying to not be able to have some actual conversation because certain people didn't believe me when I said they misinterpreted my thread. And even then, regardless of whether you believe it was misinterpreted or not, the joke has lost it's punch. Furthermore, if I were to go through old threads, I could dig up shit from just about anyone that would make them look stupid in hindsight. It's just time to move on from it. Like I said, I can take it, but it just ruins good conversation. There are certain people that make jokes about it at the start (TB23 for example) who have since dropped it because they'd rather have some real discussion.
