Since when is taunting an emotion? Showing emotions would be getting excited and celebrating with your teammates. Taunting is nothing but trying to show another player or team up. If you read the article it says that they tried to match the rule to EVERY OTHER live ball rule which was enforced at the spot of the foul. Taunting was the only penalty you could get flagged for and still go on to score. Exactly. For all the people saying that this will ruin a game, you are wrong. What would ruin the game is the idiot player who knows the rule but still chooses to taunt on the way to the end zone. If you are on the way for a game winner with no time on the clock and you feel like you have to taunt...run into the end zone first then do whatever childish idiotic taunting act you feel like you have to do. Fun happens when you work hard for a goal and win. You can also have fun when you know you have given everything, and end up on the losing end of a game.
Taunting an opposing player should never be considered fun. Jackass/punk mentality at it's finest.

It only makes sense if you argue that diving into the end zone, slowing down to point to the stands or whatever else a ref might throw the flag on provides an unfair advantage for the player attempting to advance the ball across the goal line, which it doesn't. Holding, Clipping, a block in the back or offensive pass interference fit the criteria because those are fundamental parts of a play. Running with an outstretched arm pointing towards the sky isn't, and shouldn't be viewed or penalized in the same light. This rule is going to be a clusterfuck because it is not that clearly delineated and leaves far to much at the discretion of the referees. We are going to see a lot more end of game scenarios like LSU at Goergia last year which had two of the worst celebration penalties I have ever seen in the span of about 5 minutes. This is a great rule for college football as long as "taunting" is clearly defined. To me, it should mean any thing directed at an opposing player, coach, or fan.
It also makes sense since every other penalty that is called before a score is assessed from the spot.
