My buddy of mine who actually coached high school basketball and is apparently a ratard as well...argued with me that UCONN could not only hang with but beat the '03 ASVSM team. I told him he was stupid and I lost respect for him when it came to sports.

I honestly believe that 5 guys on ohiochatter could compete and beat the UCONN women.

We have some good athletes on here.

I actually agree with this. I swear if you put me on the floor with those girls I'm scoring at least 40 (I'm 6'8" and 240 lbs). They think Griner is tough, let them play against a guy who is that size plus 60 lbs and physical.

No question that a D3 team beats them. Such a HUGE difference in physical abilities.

The size, strength, and athleticism would just be far to much for them to overcome.

Have you SEEN some of these low level D-III teams?

We are talking not even the best players off of slightly decent HS teams. When you get to some of the D-III schools the teams are made up of all kids who are their on their own dime and because of grades or religious beliefs. Otterbein played beat a team a few years ago (when Otterbein had like 5 wins that season) that didn't have a kid over 6'2

The diversity of teams among the HS/D-III ranks make it hard to really say (I'm sure there are some truly dreadful teams), but IMO the issue is if you have a team with at least 2 athletic tall guys (say 6'3+) and a decent supporting cast regardless of the academic level even a great women's team will struggle against them. An athletic frontcourt is the key, they would frustrate any offensive set and dominate the boards. To put it another way, my old fraternity's 'A team' would probably handle any women's college team easily - we actually had a D-III basketball transfer from Hampden-Sydney (apparently didn't like an all-guy's school) who was a beast and a 6'5 guy that was a walk-on for our I-A team for a season. Those two guys alone and 3 of us halfway decent guys would be athletic enough to shut them down defensively....and we didn't even win the intramural championship.

LOL. LeBron could have scored every time down the floor if he wanted to. He wouldn't have even needed teammates on the offensive end.

This.

DI guys are all really, really good in the major conferences and really good in the other conferences. DII and DIII guys are just the ones that still want to play after HS and some of them are definitely pretty good. UCONN would beat bad DIII teams. Hell, I could round up 5 people at the RPAC any of the week that would absolutely wax average DIII teams. It isn't that good.

Yeah, I don't know about the bottom part of D-III. Good high school teams could beat UConn though. Sullinger's team didn't even win state--they would kill UConn. What the hell is any one of those chicks going to do to Sullinger?

And LOL @ anyone thinking they could beat 03 ASVSM. You see how that Griner chick from Baylor dominates. LeBron as a senior in high school could literally probably win the game by himself--sounds ridiculous, but I'm not joking at all.

I agree, but I think he would need a couple of other guys, especially on the defensive end. You take the 3 best players from the '03 ASVSM team, and they would beat UConn.

I'm just saying, look how Griner (is that how it's spelled?) dominates. Now imagine someone who is bigger and 10 times the athlete. If LeBron just camped in the paint on defense they wouldn't get shit around the hoop. They're bound to miss jumpers. And he could probably score on them in the paint every single time down the floor. I mean, it's obviously a hypothetical BS match up, but I honestly believe he could beat them 1 on 5. Not just him, A LOT of NBA players.

Nearly any decent guys team starting with varsity high school teams would beat them. These chicks are REALLY good, I'm not trying to discount what they've done. But this is a stupid argument to even have and it happens every year. Our team when I was in high school would have beat them. Sorry, but they aren't doing shit in the post with 6'8 GUYS down there. Griner dominates at 6'8 and she hardly even has to jump.

Freakin' Lil Dru would have a field day against them, it would be ugly. This argument is just as stupid as it's ever been. I mean, in relation to the first post, I'm not sure what the outcome would be with a low level D3 team. SOME of those teams don't have as much talent as some pick up teams I could find at the Kent rec. But the difference between a male and female athletically is pretty drastic.

I've played enough against top college women's basketball players/teams to know that simply isn't true (at least not the ALL part, that is ridiculous). I was on the scrimmage squad against our women's team my freshman year in college (when I was still in shape). They went to the Final 4 that year, maybe not as good as UConn but had two future WNBA players. My HS team - Div IV regional final tournament team - would have handled them pretty easily, particularly if we pressed. We would have had at least a 3 inch height advantage and God knows what vertical leap/100M time advantage in every position, plus we could shoot. As I mentioned earlier, the forwards/centers in women's basketball just aren't athletic enough to even compete with guy counterparts.

I think your average HS team gets beat by UCONN. But for a D3 mens college team, I think that anyone who says UConn beats them loses a little bit of credibility because there is just such a huge gap in the level of athleticism.

Anyone who went to a big school and played pick-up games where girls bball players joined in can attest to how far off even elite women players are from men. I played for an above average Division 4 team in HS and I'm telling you no way Nikki Teasley (UNC's All-American point guard and a top 5 pick in the WNBA) gets playing time on my high school team. I know UConn is an incredible team, but there's no way they could be any Division 3 college team. And yes, I've seen some bad D-3 teams.

I think we are getting a little carried away here with the talk of a D4 HS and a D3 mens college team. The differences in those two is HUGE. UConn without question beats most D4 HS's in Ohio. The coaching alone would be a huge disparity.

Did anyone see the Stanford/Xavier game where the chick missed 2 BUNNY SHOTS in a row? Com'on! This is the talent that UCONN is going up against every night.

I'd put my money on any D3 against UCONN.

DIII mens college teams are comprised of very average high school players. I played high school basketball and I played AAU basketball. Hell, I'm not even very good but along the way I've played with and against guys that went to BCS schools to play, MAC level schools, DII, and DIII. I promise you that at the larger schools in Ohio (Ohio State, Kent State, Ohio U, Cinci) you can go into the rec and find 5 guys that could slap around your average DIII college team.

Agree with this.

Most D4 schools don't have great size or great athletes. I mean there are obvious exceptions. HS teams could beat them for sure, but not any high school team. I don't doubt that there are some D4 HS teams that could beat them though.

But this argument is so dumb, even though none of us are trying to do it, it's just taking away from what they've really accomplished. Which is remarkable. This might be the most irrelevant thread on the site right now.

There are some bad D3 teams out there, but there are also some very good teams. But for your average OAC school, your statement just isn't true.
