Work full time doing BD for a transportation and economic development firm in Columbus. 

If I am not at an event or lunch, I usually work from the home office. 

When I started I was chasing a lot of ODOT work, now chasing developers. 

Been crazy busy since the Intel announcement.

I’ve worn many hats in my career. Something always related in STEM. I majored in physics in college and gravitated towards electronics for a career. I’ve went from designing sensors in wheels hubs to teaching signals and measurements lab at U of Akron. Right now I currently work in R&D for battery fuel cell technology for an auto manufacturer.       

Own a small software development company. Concentrate on the hospitality industry, but will chase opportunities in other types of business, usually proving that I never learn.

I’ve taught elementary phys ed the past 24 years. The last 18 years I’ve been the XC coach for all boys/girls/varsity/jr high of my school.

I’m in my 9th year of retirement from a 36 year teaching career in Social Studies (23 at 8th grade and 13 at high school, mostly seniors). 

I miss about two of my colleagues and the rest were pompous ass hats.

From everyone else’s take,  I really don’t work.  

This place to me is just for trolling.

Went to college for chemical engineering, ended up with a BS in ChemEng, BS in Applied Math, and MS in ChemEng.

I quickly realized I wanted nothing to do with the petrochemical industry. Started in research and development for industrial combustion (lowering emissions out of industrial furnaces).

20 years later I now work with our sales team developing salable solutions for industrial furnaces using industrial gases (N2, O2, H2, CO2, etc). 

My official title now is Sr. Application Engineer, specialized in Melting and Heat Treating applications. 

I also have an “International Expert” accreditation in industrial combustion and been published a few times.

I work from home when I am not traveling which is why I can spend time on OC.

I work in finance in the tourism/ hospitality world in Charleston, SC. Could make more in the corporate world but took a job with more of a work/ life balance once our 1st kid was born. It’s much slower paced and I like it for now. (My wife’s job also allowed this). Been in the south for 8 years straight now (went to college here, moved to NC, but then lived in Cle for 3 years), and would be hard pressed to move back to NE Ohio. It’s slow enough where I have time to argue politics on here. 

Random guess but OP do you work at Unilever? Only guessing bc I know a few people who moved to NY/ NJ to work there.

I don’t, but I know their office in Englewood Cliffs. I went somewhat far in their interview process for an NYC position circa 2014.

I am director of Client Services for SportsMEDIA Technology. We have a ton of clients, and I oversee the NBC account and a few other smaller ones plus all of the Western Conference NHL teams.

My wife makes significantly more than me as a director of sales at a health software company — after leaving LinkedIn to WFH.

I WFH when I am not traveling, and either put in 70 hour weeks for weeks at a time or put in 20 hour weeks when it’s less busy. 

I love what my company does, mostly love what I do, hate being “on call” during nights and weekends if a client or remote staff calls with an issue.

Been in this role for just over a year after supporting events remotely as a broadcast engineer for 7 years. I will likely look to move on this time next year because the (out of business) hours are brutal for too much of the year. TG at will give me 2+ years experience and I’d be confident walking into a new job.

Retired six years ago after 33 yrs with U.S. Postal Service.  Started as a clerk keying mail, then moved up through the training department. Worked as a specialist in various offices - EEO, Diversity, and Injury Compensation.  Did a year as postmaster of a small town.  Was the only employee there, that was a weird time.  Peaked as Mgr of Training & Diversity for half of Ohio.  Finished as Mgr of Maintenance Support (spare parts) at the big processing center in Cols.

To supplement my retirement income, I do occasional voiceover jobs and work part-time as an FAA weather observer at Port Columbus.  Also do a lot of volunteer work, so I am never bored.

Mrs. Z retired two years ago as a school secretary.  Right now she's into crocheting big-time.  Might try a few craft shows this fall and see if her stuff sells.  I keep telling her she needs to get a real job, lol.

I am a retired professional worm digger.  I still dig from time to time, but enjoy my retirement.

Work IT at a public school district. I handle most of the break/fix stuff and troubleshoot issues for students and staff alike. 

 We’ve got about 1500 students K-12 and 175 staff members. Some days I’m slammed. Other days I may only have 1 or 2 trouble tickets. I’ve coached varsity girls basketball for the last 7 years so in the winter I manage time well during the work day. 

I also am contracted 4 weeks longer than teachers, technically I’m an “administrator” so my summers are a little shorter but I still get nearly 7.5 weeks off in the summer which is nice. 

I manage a mental health office. I did this in Frisco, TX and will be managing it remotely from Ohio now. Transition should start next week. Currently we have 3 Psychs and 5 therapists. Should be adding a couple more in the next two months. 

We will see how it goes from Ohio. I was doing everything in Texas by myself. I will now have two assistants in the office I will manage as well. Hopefully they are decent because I have the place running as a fine oiled machine currently where I really only gotta work Mondays and Friday and then Tuesday - Thursday can work about 10 mins outta every hour.

So I know a psychiatrist can prescribe medicine while a psychologist can not.

So with that being said what’s the difference between a psychologist and a therapist? One has a PhD and one has a MS?

Just never understood why some are therapists and some are psychologists.

I'm listening....

Engineer for a Natural Gas explorer and development company based in Pittsburgh. I'm burning out though after 15 years of the same job. if i can find something that will allow me to work remote i will try to get it. if not, i really feel like once my kids are out of school i'll build a house with cash flow and start winding down my career early so i can find a job selling guns, fishing or golf equipment.
