Based off my joke on the camping thread. Would you rather go on vacation to Europe or be wrong and want to go on vacation in America?

Europe. There are definitely tons of spots I want to see in America still, but if it’s between the 2 for a single trip, Europe.

We can add onto it, what in the US do you want to see? Besides the Grand Canyon, I have very little spots I care to see more.

One of my teaching friends has been all over Europe the last month and her pictures have been great to follow and looks awesome…..I would be interested and enlightened and cultured, but I’m going to choose USA

In the US I love visiting Nashville and Vegas.
In Europe there’s so many places I would love to visit. Just the history and food is enough that I could spend months over there seeing and trying new things. I would also love to visit a few soccer stadiums overseas.
We have a cruise planned with my in laws next year but we’re also looking into Kruger National Park with another couple we are friends with.

Yellowstone/Yosemite/Big Sky, Seattle area (been to city), Hawaii, Portland, done New Mexico (but want to do again as adult), lots of golf courses, black hills/Mount Rushmore.
Then a ton of cities I’ve been for work, but want to vacation to.

There’s no wrong answer here for me. I’d be cool with visiting just about any country in Europe.
We’re not very well traveled. Graduated college (and got real job with real paycheck), married, had first kid all within two years of each other. Had second kid just as the first was getting a little independent. As they get older I’m looking forward to doing more traveling. Denver, NYC, Los Angeles and Seattle are a few cities. Grand Canyon and Pacific Ocean i also want to make it out to.
By the way, a good subtopic here is how much do vacations kind of suck with little kids? My family went to NC in June and it was fun but definitely a lot of work with our 7 and 3 year old kids. I was envious of my brother and his one 16 year old kid.

My kids are 9 years apart so the daughter was always a help and my kids are both like old souls. We vacationed a few time with my sister and 3-5 year old twin boys and they were ok but she wore us out worried they were ruining the vacation.

Both have a lot to offer, hard to pick one over the other.
For me it depends on where you’re flying from/to and the price, i.e. NYC to Europe, deals can be had and it’s a straight shot.

Has anyone who is saying the Grand Canyon actually been there?
I’ve been there and it was meh. I think I read the average visitor only spends 17 minutes there. The Hoover Dam was way more interesting the the Grand Canyon.

I still have way too much in the US to see to worry too much about Europe. I'd like to see Scotland and Ireland eventually. My goal in the next few years is to get a camper and start traveling across the country.

I've heard the same, but I still want to see it.
I have national parks on my radar now. I don't know why I didn't pursue them in my younger days.

Grand Canyon I was done with in about 15 min. I was also 12, but no desire to go back. I think we stayed for a sunset, so maybe 2-3 hrs. It's also ridiculously dangerous for a kid my age -- 12 year old boy, no fear, thinks is invincible and can do anything. I probably gave my parents 17 heart attacks in those 2 hrs.

Isn’t the Grand Canyon kind of a pain in the ass to even get to? Why the hell would you go if you’re only spending 15-20 minutes there.

Its a tourist area, so there are nice little towns around it. Flagstaff is where we stayed. Nice hotel and pool, good restaurants, etc.
That was also 25 years ago. No clue what has been done since.

Europe for me. So many places you get a much better bang for your buck. There are definitely places I want to see in the US, however. The US is a beautiufl country.

I get about the same thrill flying over it as I did visiting it lol
