I have been there several times when the kids were growing up. Pretty good tour around two hours in an open air vehicle that gets you right up to the animals.

The wilds is great if you like zoos. The animals are out in a more natural environment. The open air tour is definitely the way to go. Also if you have a Columbus zoo membership you can add the wilds for like $75. We have a family membership for 6 and 2 guests so that was completely worth it for us. 

Definitely worth the trip.  Open air is the way to go.  Several animals will stick their heads right in the vehicle.  We loved it, you don't feel like you're even in Ohio.

They have some good ziplining too.
