If my public official is really going to represent me then I should be positive that they live with in geographical area of my district.
Well, the two names you gave were U.S. Senators from Ohio, so if you're in the Cinci area and they both live in Cleveland, does that count? :)
Suppose your next-door neighbor is your U.S. representative for your district, but they spend 8 months out of the year in DC. Does that mean they would be better served being a representative for the DC district?
Understand what you're saying, though.
