The Black National Anthem was played before the Chiefs/Ravens game.

Getting some strong action on X

Anyone care? Have thoughts?

Personally, I don’t care. There are a lot of rise and stand songs throughout sports. People like to be mad though.

Didn’t know it was a thing, don’t care.  Very rarely tune into a game before kick off.

Do they only play it at the start of the season?

Seems to be #357062760 on the list of things that don't matter much in the grand scheme of things, but gets the dipshits of the world fired up and offended because they have to be bitching about something to feel fulfilled.

Correct, it doesn’t matter. But also dumb as shit. Who actually likes it and wants it? The NFL fell into the trap of caring about 5% of Twitter.

Wondering if that 5% outweighs the butthurt ones that will threaten to never watch again because of what football has turned into?

"Separate but equal is racist..."

"Also, we want our own anthem"

You're too smart to know that these are not in conflict.

But they actually are.  They literally are demanding a separate anthem for black people.

"Additional" is a more accurate term than "separate". The distinction matters.

This is it. Regardless of their intentions, all it does is create more division. There’s no such thing as a black national anthem, and every time we act like there is it just drives the wedge deeper and backfires.

fighting over this anthem is what they want us to do. distracts us from the erosion of the values in our society, pilfering of tax dollars, loss of freedom of speech/movement/etc. the  black national anthem is fine if it makes a swath of the population feel better about their stance in culture. obviously i wish we had a singular anthem to show that we are a singular people, but if black folks don't feel included in our national anthem i get it given the history there. if we changed it to another, modern anthem that all denominations like (seems impossible) that'd be ideal, but the story told in the Star Spangled Banner is perfect for the creation of this nation, it's hard for me to envision another song to capture the story of our nation better.

Oh, I suppose that explains why they kneel for one but not the other.

I always thought that kneeling before something showed subservience. In other thoughts , how about another group of sovereign citizens that feel the need for their own blue line flag?

Or reverance.  LOL, can you imagine the shit storm if someone said people were kneeling for the national anthem out of extreme reverance...
