Two teachers recently busted for relationships with students. Both teachers are fit, reasonably attractive, and 27 years old. One victim was 17. The other was 14.
See if you can spot the difference in the way the article portrays things.

They'll never get the smell out of that fish.
Assumed Cocke County was a typo.
Assume "tail" as opposed to "tale" was you being clever.
I see the point, but equal != same. I don't believe that on balance, a boy being seduced by a teacher is as damaging as for a girl.

Cocke County was not a typo.
The subject line, however, was. My bad.
Notice how the article itself displays one teacher versus another.

This is because of the double standard we have that a girl is somehow worth less when she is no longer a virgin.

Completely disagree. That's horrible.
If we want to get scientific, boys are far less mature at that age than girls. But then you have that weird societal thing where Prince Charming is a non-teacher of an appropriate age.
It's all quite sexist. And it's rooted in the understanding that the girl is looking to fall in love and is more romantic...but more receptive to being taken advantage of. Boys at that age - you don't fall in love, you "sow wild oats". Just a very crazy, weird double-standard.
All these teachers are predators. But, maybe, start thinking about why the victims are victims.

I might have missed the point you were trying to make but...
I have a friend who had a 21 year old girlfriend when he was 15. She was much smarter than him and basically used him as a play toy. Physically he was pretty mature but mentally he could not deal with it. When she got her master's she moved to California. He loaded her moving van and as soon as he finished and pulled the back door closed she told him that was it for them. After that he slept with anything that moved in college and we were always kind of jealous of him but he could never deal with a relationship. He's twice divorced now and probably getting ready for marriage number 3. I blame it all on his being with someone who used and manipulated him from 15-18.
I do think it affects boys, maybe not exactly how it affects girls but I don't think it affects everyone the same.

That was my point. At that age, boys are actually less mentally mature than girls. I'm sure it can and does mess the boys up just as bad, but society tends not to think that way.

So few people have gone on to actually note how it has affected boys, too.
Here's the thing, though: Not 100% of girls will suffer life-long dysfunction as a result of a relationship like this. Just as well, not 100% of boys will suffer life-long dysfunction as a result of a relationship like this. Some will end up fine.
But for others, it seems like it fucks their shit up. The difference is that if a girl comes forward and admits that it has caused issues, she's seen as brave or taking on a tough task. A boy would be seen by many as a pussy if he came forward and admitted that he was, in any way, a victim if it involved sex with anyone that people consider reasonably attractive, because boys are basically supposed to want to fuck anything that moves and has a hole ... and the whole "moves" thing might even be negotiable.

Is it strange that he's the one in this thread who "hopes he never forgets" it? It feels strange. Is that strange?

Right, because it apparently doesn't matter if a male never experienced it. They know exactly how they'd handle it.
It's not unlike how some think they'd totally go John McClain if they ever ran into a hostage situation. You don't know until you've been in that circumstance.
