Rather than lose the benefit of the collective daily anger posters feel toward the media or politicians or whomever else because it's spread between so many threads, I thought we could have a place where the aggreived, incensed, shocked, scandalized and infuriated can get it out there. In the several-hundred-thousand-year history of homo sapiens, we only today stand at a tipping point where the stupid among us will prevail.
So let's hear it. Who or what is eating your lunch?

People with the absurd notion that if only we would elect the "right" people...
People who believe the fix to a broken government is a massive expansion of government power.
People who believe the answer to sick fucks in our society harming others is to infringe on the rights of all of us.
People who bemoan the government employees affected by the shutdown, but not for the employers and employees affected in the private sector.

Considering what you do, for the amount of days that you get paid to do it (185 days), and the amount of time off + benefits that you receive... You get paid very well. Tenured teachers that bitch about their salary crack me the fuck up. The only really shitty teaching salaries are those of entry level teachers (considering loans, schooling, etc.) I'm assuming you've been at it for 20ish years? Plus coaching? You make a great amount of money, especially if you were paid your daily wage for an actual calendar year's worth of work.

To piggy off this post and to go along the theme of this thread, I will add teachers that bitch about their career in general. Out of all career fields this one has the most pissing and moaning. Even in college the education majors tend to cry the most.

Nothing's really outraging me today. Well, the Ohio weather, but that's true most of the time.
Anyone with more than a mildly ambivalent response to a razor commercial is a little annoying right now, but it's certainly not to the point of outrage.

First off, tenure doesnt exist anymore.
Secondly, how would you like to be evaluated on how other people do?
Third, we have huge requirements on a yearly basis on professional development. I am sure that most college grads arent required to continually take college courses to stay employed.
fourth......what you call a salary isnt what a teacher brings home to live off of. After retirement, taxes, benefits.....no teacher brings home more than 60% of their salary. Its more like 45%
Lastly, is being an educator the most important job in our society.....yes it is. You think you would want the brightest and best. Paying them scraps doesnt do that.
Sure is the schedule nice, yes it is.

The bolded might explain why you aren't getting paid what you want. Your district must want you to leave so they can get someone who is at least "bright" and "good", if not "brightest and best".

I was right there with you until I got to this line. Anyone who makes this claim, regardless of your profession, needs a big time reality check. What is the most important job in our society?
- If I'm having a heart attack, a heart surgeon.
- If I'm being chased by a deranged killer, a cop.
- If my house is burning down and my family is inside, a fireman
- If I am starving, a cook
- If I require sports to keep me sane, an athlete
- If I am being sued wrongfully, an attorney
- If I am horny and single, a hooker.
My point is that most everyone's job is important. I empathize with some teachers who do not earn a lot of money for what they do. But once I hear the "we have the most important job" or "if you can read this sign, thank me" I tune out completely.

No....no i didn't. Other jobs dont evaluate on an individual basis how well their co workers do and then apply that to their evaluation.
