Just imagine how much an NFT of Trump's mugshot would go for....

Then he could make money off the dipshit Libs like he has been off the dipshit Pubs over the past few years!

You can’t imagine how shocked I am when reviewing this thread and haven’t found anything about the Ohio speaker of the house and the the head of the Ohio Republican Party getting prisoned for 20 and 5 years respectively.

Over the last 30 years, there have been literally THOUSANDS of state and local officials busted for corruption.  Chicago alone has over 1000.  And yet no one in DC - so the conclusion is there is no corruption or grifting in the federal govt?

Also, 4 of the last 10 governors of IL have gone to prison...

Luckily the R's ousted Borges soon after he got the job.  Householder will serve more time than the Bidens, even though they make him look like a piker.

Further proof that the Republican party is just as corrupt as the Democrats. This is the roll call on the vote to renew FISA:

https://clerk.house.gov/evs/2024/roll114.xml

The vote was 212 - 212

But then the Republican SotH (Johnson) cast the deciding vote in favor of it.

Now the govt can continue to corruptively use FISA against US citizens by breaking off from the Constitution to spy without warrants but also spy on campaign opponents like what was done to Trump. Remember when the Dems lied to that court something like 20 times to spy on Trump?

The people who insist on voting for the Duopoly deserve all of this and more. Good job, fuckasses \o/

I would bet the average person in congress would score in the diagnosable range on a psychopathy test.  That’s the result of the fame and perceived power they get - a perfect job for a psychopath or at least sociopath.

Biden is one as well - at least before he became senile. Trump is certainly a psychopath.

Absolutely no question.  There is no way one can lie so frequently and comfortable, or get up on their soapbox and gaslight everyone, grandstanding in interviews and congressional hearings....unless you are a sociopath (and in the case of DC, probably bordering on psychopath for many).

I mean, if you just consider the "influence" and charisma typically needed to get elected to national office, you have to be a master manipulator and skilled in double-speak.  Look at AOC when she started vs. now - she's a polished bullshitter who is ready to shut you down with accusations of one of the -isms if you ask her too tough of a question.

Us commoners would have little hope of even raising $2M table stakes to campaign for the House.  The RNC and DNC have their hooks deep into state, even local in some cases, races.  There are exceptions, like AOC, but you pretty much have to know someone to make the right introductions to get your name out there and some momentum.  Good luck running as an independent with no name recognition - the local paper probably won't even bother to interview you.  Joe the Plumber has no chance of getting his name out there.

So, in the grand scheme of things, how much of an impact will Noem's utter disaster of a book have on her aspirations to be anything more than the governor or house/senate member of a minor league state?

Seems she was going all in on an "I'm a tough person who makes tough decisions out of a position of strength!" angle and completely fucked it up because:

1. The average person doesn't look at someone saying "Well, I just couldn't get that dog trained, so I took it out back and shot it but good! And then put a bullet in a goat, too, because fuck that thing!" as a reason to want them in a prominent position.

2. It also doesn't help to include a "witty" anecdote of how you stared down chubby North Korea guy because your youth pastor training taught you to not be intimidated by tiny dictators when it takes virtually no time at all to determine that you never actually met chubby North Korea guy.

On one hand, her attempt at using a book to portray herself as tough enough for an office like VP or Trump's cabinet didn't really do much other than make her look like a toxic idiot. On the other, it's only early May and odds are there will be about 20 stupid, insane things that overshadow this happening before we even think about going into the voting booth. At minimum.

I haven't looked much into the Noem hoopla yet. Yet.

But honestly she can't be any worse than a thieving gender queer guy in charge of nuclear waste.

It does seem to me that the number of "courage lies" are growing. Do these people not understand by now that their chances of being exposed as a farce are pretty high? If the media neglects it's job as the fourth estate , don't worry because a bunch of autists on Reddit will be on the case!

These people have such inflated egos that they believe they’re “necessary” and that their followers want them there.  McConnell is clearly a psychopath like Pelosi.

That's why I think that most of them are POS. They don't have the country's interests as their agenda. They want to stay in power and believe that THEY are the ones who should control how kid's are parented, what we should drive, etc. That their view is the only view.

The fact that many of these politicians enter office with modest net worth (see Clintons/Obamas/AOC, and I'm sure there are plenty of Republicans) and a few years later are multi, multi millionaires is way too fishy for me.

I don't understand why Congress is allowed to partake in insider trading. Can somebody explain that to me?

Isn't that just illegal, period?

Looks like they should be at 51 or 52, depending on Ohio (should be one more if they didn’t run an absolute shit head in Arizona). More than likely bc he doesn’t want to stroke out on live tv multiple times again.

Because who is going to vote for it? They’d be voting against themselves making money. It’s absolutely crazy it’s allowed to go on.

That's what I was thinking. I mean, sure, it's funny as hell to watch an old guy turn into a literal zombie and have to be escorted off a podium AND then have his PR people work overtime to come up with some super-vague "all is well!" explanation, but at some point, someone had to say enough is enough in his camp.

On his way out, McConnell is trying to hold a secret ballot to determine the leader of the Senate. And is only giving them 3 options supposedly. Completely ridiculous.
