Not one of the stores/restaurants/retail businesses/labor employers I talk to has any evidence to back that up.  There have been jobs galore for months, but no one will take them.

I want to say there are like 125M jobs in the US (I guess including part-time is closer to 160M), and a healthy economy keeping pace with population growth would add something like 100k jobs each month.  So you're only talking about 0.5% growth for the month.

I'm not that impressed by the number when everything just opened back up in June in many parts of the country.  Even with all the stuff that had been only 50% capacity, consider stuff that may have still been shutdown, things like no fans in stadiums.

Just too much noise to make any sense of these numbers.  Total unemployment is a better number, but that's super wonky after the last 12 months, too.  Looks like 7M below the jobs number from immediately before the pandemic....so 10 more months like this to get back to where we were?  I think labor participation rate is a better picture, and it's at 61.6% which is 1.7% below pre-pandemic....that's 2.5M people that haven't gone back to work yet.

Anecdotally, we’ve had an uptick in tourism jobs now that the federal benefits were cut off by the state. Still have a huge shortage though, and multiple employers have starting rates at $15+.

I have no idea how many actual people are out there still receiving extended/extra benefits.  Seems like that ended in a lot of states.

Report just said average wages went up like 10 cents an hour.  I guess I might question how real, deep and widespread these "labor shortages" truly are, as it's been kind of a right-wing talking point for some time.

I'm sure there are plenty of anecdotal examples.  But then you also see a bunch of supply chain disruptions, still, and those companies are idling or laying off people.

So I think it's all obviously very unequal and disproportionate.  But I'd say, also, the economy clearly isn't firing on all cylinders yet and so there can't be millions of unfilled jobs out there.  I suppose it could be true that there's still also a labor shortage.

100% sure that he is not in charge of anything.  Susan Rice and Obama are running domestic affairs and god knows who is running foreign policy.

You're pretty tapped into the inner workings. Impressive.

He probably flips his dog a milk bone every now and then, beyond that not much can be expected.  Gotta be a first for the WH/prez.

Lol, yeah, "people that are in the know" are spilling national secrets about the president's mental capacity (or lack thereof) to a half-wit gym teacher. Or are your "people that are in the know" the writers of those Breitbart articles you seem to think are legitimate news because of that whole half-wit thing?

Well, at least he is starting a new coal boom ......... hats off!      Hilarious.

American coal production this year will swell 15% to meet stronger demand for electricity at home and abroad, according to the U.S. Energy Department’s July outlook. That would be the most since at least 1990 and nearly double the 8% increase projected in May, when the economic rebound was still in earlier stages of recovery.

Looks like Trump disciples are going to be forced by the Great Man to give up Desantis - although they have promoted him hard these many months.  But alas, Donald says the guy's a chump now, so opinions will have to be adjusted.

Hard to find blind following like that on any part of the spectrum.

Really? Why? Because he's prioritizing the building collapse tragedy in his state as more important than serving at one of Don's rallies? Or because he seems to be being positioned in the R party as a superior version of Trump, where the core tenets are similar, but without the brazen assholery?

I’m not sure what he was getting at. I think Desantis is legit. Still hates the media but 10x smarter than trump at actually speaking. State still did much better than most.

More or less.  Harvard grad (not to attach too much to that).  He's clearly not a dummy.

He can, and has, run circles around Cuomo.  And just look at the media fawning over Cuomo - even now, the crap Cuomo is dealing with is worse than most anything Trump allegedly did.  But the media is largely giving him a free pass because they're about politics, not facts.

I think what DeSantis took from Trump is not to be intimidated by the media bullshit about racist, sexist, etc...Doesn't apologize, but instead hits back.  That's what was new and "refreshing" about Trump to his supporters.  Difference is, DeSantis is a polished politician and not inherently an asshat.

Strong Repub field in 2024 along with Kristi Noem and Nikki Haley.  Hopefully they don't split the vote and pave a path for Trump.  2024 is a long ways away, but it sort of feels like the only way Repubs lose the POTUS is if they nominate Trump.

Biden admin just blatantly lying about the protests in Cuba. Maybe come out and take a stand for their freedom, clowns. Edit: Biden’s statement this morning was good.

I would like a DeSantis/Haley ticket, or DeSantis/Cotton, or several other combo's.

Just words.  This statement is rich.

"The United States calls on the Cuban regime to hear their people and serve their needs at this vital moment rather than enriching themselves,"

The misinformation and disinformation from the democrats, their deep state pals, and the complicit media is so blatant that you can tell they almost don't care any longer whether most of us see through it.

Not sure where to put this, but W emerged from his art studio to criticize the withdrawl from Afghanistan.

Way to stick to your guns, 20 years after getting us into that quagmire.

This advance on child tax credit thing is bullshit. You should have had to opt in, not be forced to opt out. So dumb.
