This website is going to be dead after the election. But let me ask this seriously as a 38 year old who was there for the Internet creation. Wtf would be happening if only the NYT and Washington Post were the news? Twitter is a cesspool, but also the only way to battle misinformation. Was the media really that much more indifferent before? Or was it all propaganda forever and this is what we deal with now? I can’t comprehend what would happen now if there wasn’t video or audio proof to prove people wrong.
The advent of social media has turned journalism into the Wild Wild West. There used to be something called "journalistic integrity." That was thrown out the window in the last few years. Something pops up on the web and the "journalist" wants to be the first to break the story and, many times, jumps the gun without all of the info. Used to have to fact check when it was just newspapers and radio.
The media has always leaned liberal but it's gotten WAY out of hand to the point where they are trying to influence people with what to do (see attempts on Trump with their Hitler bullshit). You do have your conservative media (Fox News, etc) and they also lean toward their bias.
My advice would be "don't trust, or believe, the media." Especially outlets like MSNBC.
