Alpha Entertainment, a company founded by Vince McMahon, will announce a new football league today at 3:00. No other details available, including name.

I'm sure it'll be just as successful as the first one. Guys not good enough for the NFL playing a series of games where they make the rules up as they go until folding unceremoniously.

I think it has a little by of a chance. They had different rules, some interesting, that I thought the coaches didn't take advantage of to make it interesting. It was just bad football. I think If They open it up and you seem more college style offenses it coild be interesting
But I give it 2 seasons before folding

I'm now interested in watching the 30 for 30 on the XFL.
What rule changes would you like to see them incorporate that differ from the NFL or college game?
Honorable Admin
I would like to see 50+ yard FGs worth 4 points. Or the ability to kick the PAT from 50 yards out for 2 points.

No touchbacks on kickoffs.....
Allowing WR to move toward the LOS like Canadian and arena.
3 downs to promote more wide open passing game?

They created the sky cam, maybe they can test out cameras inside the helmet so we can get a field view of the action from the players perspective.

I could see this working in the short term. However, I predict the rules will be stupid shit like no penalty for helmet to helmet contact. That would kill the league.

I can't imagine they'd be too lenient with personal safety rules like this. If they are, I agree, the league doesn't stand much of a chance.

Interesting....

Funding will be an interesting topic. I've read that Vince sold $100 million in WWE stock for this enterprise. Unless there are other sources, that's simply not a lot of money in this context. Enough for a couple of semi-"name" players and a roster full of AYOs.

Remove kicking entirely, including punts. Also no helmets.

XFL it is, starting 2020 (we'll see).

Is this going to be a legit attempt at a football league (as the XFL was) or will this be more like WWE (staged)?

Single owner (not a franchise model), 8-teams initially with no cities yet determined, no contacts yet with broadcast outlets. McMahon claims he won't be the face of the league.

No crossover with WWE (no wrestler appearacnces, shared announcers, etc.).
Lots of emphasis on "quality of the person" (i.e. no one with a DUI).

Is he angling to become the nfl minor leagues?

His answers indicated that it's a real game, he really stressed it having nothing at all to do with the WWE.

I’m interested in the full speed game without helmets

Put the teams in big college towns. Focus on putting former college stars that didn't quite make the league on the teams.
Honorable Admin
The no helmet idea is interesting, I'd love to see what the game would look like with minimal head protection.

The only thing that would catch my interest and get me to watch this would be without helmets. I’m very very interested in watching how that would play out.

If vegas put the number of games played by this league at 0.5, I'm not sure how I'd bet.
Honorable Admin
I'd bet the over.
One thing I don't like about the announcement is the zero tolerance policy for criminals. I'd rather see them put harsher penalties in place if you commit a crime once in the league, but they may be limiting the talent pool right off the bat due to kids being dumb and making mistakes.

Also ironic since the WWE turned a blind eye to steroid usage, which led to a prominent wrestler killing himself and his family.

Zero excitement over this. I’d bet it crashes and burns again.
