Damn is right. Can't blame him for chasing the paper but do the Phillies even get to .500 the next 3 years?
I see a lot of good players leaving… And not too many staying or coming.
Maybe Twins get 84-83 wins, I don't see anyone else in the central divison finishing above .500.
I predict the usual deadline deal to pull in an asset once they know what they need for the playoffs.

Maybe because Marlins, Braves, Mets aren’t too great ...But Phillies a ways away
Santana could have a couple real nice years

3 years, $60M
Sorry to see him go but that is way to much. I hope the tribe has a surprise up their sleeve.
I enjoyed watching Santana over the years and will miss him but that price was too steep.
I really want is to make a deal for Ian Happ. Not sure it's in the cards, if it hasn't happened already. But that would be an ideal trade.

Just curious where do you want to play him?
His bat would easily suffice at 3rd, 5th, 6th in the order.

This trade is assuming Kipnis is dealt. But insurance/rest for Ramirez at 2nd, or if Yandy doesn't pan out and J-Ram has to go back to 3rd.
Ideally, Yandy seizes 3rd and Happ is sent to the OF. Either left or right, since Zimmer will be full-time CF.

If Tribe trades for Happ, I hope he gets 500+ abs.
yeah, 2B makes the most sense if Kipnis is traded.
I'm a fan of Chiz, pessimistic on Brantley's health.

The Braves are on the come up, though. That could be an exciting team in the coming years.
Would've been nice to keep Santana but no way I'd offer the same amount they paid Encarncion, which is what Carlos got.
Outside of last year's outlier (adding Encarnacion), I'm expecting them to add patchwork type players and hope they catch fire.

Oddly similar except that .320 BA vs .250 BA.
Yonder Alonso it is!
Meh

I'm not expecting him to duplicate last years stats but Alonso's numbers were actually better than Santana's. Even if he only bangs out 20 HR's, you've gotten similar production at a significant discount (2 years/$16M).
Oh, and another thing....lmao at these clowns calling into local sports talk (92.3) railing on Santana for leaving and "spitting in the fans faces." This was after he wrote a VERY classy letter to the city, thanking them.
This wasn't a "Thome" move by leaving for a couple of million extra dollars. This was TWENTY-FOUR million dollars. If any of us were offered a 40% pay raise and we declined it, our wife, girlfriend , significant other, etc would likely throw a shit fit.
And after Lebron moving on the first time, things like this really don't get to me as much as they used to.
I think this was plan C, not the best (Santana) or 2nd best (Morrison), but not the worst and slightly better option than Adams or Duda.
Maybe they wanted short term contract as Bradley is the future at 1B, and that might be as early as next spring.
I see Alonso is .277 v RHP and .234 v LHP. Looks like EE will be at 1B v LHP, and have a bench righty DH (Diaz?).
When does Alonso get popped for PEDs?
Home runs by season: 0, 5, 9, 6, 7, 5, 7, 28
Ones of these things is not like the other. Unless he is wearing Tom Brady's pajamas and is getting better at 30, I don't see him repearting that. Hopefully I am wrong.
