I think this time will feel different. I've seen more bad baseball than good in the 40+ years that I have followed the tribe, but we always had the "wait till next year" when we threw in the towel. Sadly, the Dolans have taken that away. I'll still root for the new team, but it won't be the same. Pro football has never been the same since 1995, and MLB will never be the same after 2021.
I think part of this feeling is because we know the re-build is starting. If this was all happening in 2016, we would be just as excited for that 2017 season to start up.
On the bright side, our FO is tremendous and the rebuild shouldnt be a complete tear down. Unless they elect to trade everyone of value under contract and completely restock the system. But the trades for Rosario, Reyes, Classe, etc (coupled with the development of pitching and Jones) will keep them from being the bottom dwellers imo.
The Guardians (lol) already have a really loaded farm system, and the inevitable trades of Perez, Hernandez and Ramirez over the next 365 days should strengthen it even more. I'm cautiously optimistic -- with how the FO has handled the impeding contracts with their studs to keep this team relevant -- that the rebuild will be just as compitant.
