I'm not sure how I feel overall about the new rule, but it does benefit teams who good fundamentally on offense. A runner on second with no one out should score. It seems like we have been terrible at moving runners up a base for at least 15 years.
As a Pirates fan, assuming the team is good enough to extend anyone to 10, that's a huge concern because they can be comically bad at turning opportunities into scores. Yesterday had this comically bad inning where they had bases loaded and no one out and only got one run out of it. Because Wainwright walked in a guy -- they sure as hell didn't do anything proactive to get on the board. Some teams just, for whatever reason(s) don't get things done in those situations. I know...
