Seems a bit much....can we fucking wait a bit on things?

They’re not making the decision now. They’re just starting to plan for that, in case things don’t improve.

I see no reason for them to even mention it. The big wigs of everything should be planning way ahead obviously.

Leaks happen because people want to feel important. It will always be that way and it’s why journalists are successful. People want to tell other people things.

This is likely only a story because some intern leaked it. Not because the NCAA wants it public.

I am not sure if I said this in the corona thread, but making decisions beyond 1 month (I could give you a pass if its 1.5 months) is beyond absurd.  I guess I will also give a pass for big events, but you have to take this thing week by week to see the numbers.

NCAA should plant certain rumors with certain folks and see which ones make the rounds in the media to smoke out who is the rat....

Obviously they have.

Now would be a good time with all the uncertainty and shit going on.    What would have not been believable 6 months ago, like cancelling seasons, closing bars/restaurants, shutting down schools, stay-at-home orders, etc you could easily plant some crazy shit that could get put out.

Maybe the 2021 spring sports leak was exactly this...

Possibly.

Before this shit happened if one would float an idea like what is happening now it would be so unbelievable the person likely knows they are being set up.

I dont know, as much as I love football I just dont know how much I would love it in the spring.

How would it work anyway? Can't play in the spring and then the fall too can you?

And then what about the draft?  I guess you can push that back a 1-1.5 months, but otherwise it throws the whole NFL calendar off.  Not to mention, pro days and all that stuff leading up to the draft.  Otherwise you're going to draft a guy in the top-10 with college games left to play and could possibly suffer a major injury.

Yeah, I can't see the players' union being on board with a "after the Super Bowl, you get a month off and then start the next season!" plan.

Sorry I think it was related to the NCAA post by S&L. But the question still stands. If football would be in spring, how could they possibly play again in September. I think the NFL will figure theirs out.

In the case of the NFL, they COULD move the following season back a month.  And a shorter preseason so close to the end of the prior year.  It seems like more and more teams are already playing the stars much more sparingly in preseason (actually extends to practices, too).  But the other side of that is preseason is a time to develop younger players and teach FA's your system.

Oh, my bad. But even taking out the union and moving it to college, it'd still be a horrible mess logistically, even if you delete those wasted weeks of nothing between conference championship week and the first bowls. You'd have more time between the spring and fall season, but still have the questions of player health (there's going to be a TON of injury redshirt seasons because of guys getting hurt in the spring season and not ready to come back by fall AND a lot of guys questioning whether it's worth it because they're not truly hurt, but are still a bit banged up to want to risk worsening things and potentially losing a future payday for "only for the scholly" labor), the issue of how the draft is going to be done because that first season will be ending around when the NFL would be either in or getting ready to start getting into gear, recruiting would be a hilarious clusterfuck due to all the "new experience" chaos of trying to do two seasons in one calendar year and the annual coaching carousel would be an utter disaster for some programs with the really short turnaround between seasons. And that's just the shit I can think of off the top of my head.

I can’t see a scenario where CFB is played in the spring.

The OHSAA just came out with the spring baseball timeline where the season would start like 7 May.........they know something we dont????

But as I stated before, I look for the NFL to scale back the preseason and use this as a test run for 2021 in having only 3 preseason games.

They just have the timeline plan for best case scenario.....we keep hearing these worst case timelines. I appreciated this one.

It did mention 3x that If school does not resume on May 4th, and that’s a long shot....that school gets moved back again/canceled.....that the season will be canceled. My kid has been lifting like crazy and doing runs and sprints up and down the street. I’d love for him to get the chance to compete...but fortunately only his soph year. But he’s not missed a single workout since this began.

Concur.  In a time where the govt is giving us worst case scenario it is good to see some organization give some hope.  It all hinges on what they do with the schools.

Really sucks for my Godson to miss his Senior baseball season.  To not even get a last season, man that would be tough.
