In 1980 the average duration of a MLB game was 2:33

In 2020 the average duration of a MLB game was 3:07

Baseball just needs to ban the shift and see how much it helps. No guarantee, but might as well try.

You can ban it, but you'll have to set barriers.  And when you do, teams will go as close to the barrier every single time.

Sure, just like every other sport ever. 2 on each side of the base. 1 outfielder on each side of 2nd. No more than 4 players touching infield dirt, etc.

How would it help? I haven’t heard any good reason to ban the shift.

How would it not help?

MLB has become unawatchable to me. I may have watched 9 innings this past season.

I dont mind the length of games to an extent, but when there are just as many, or more, strikeouts in the game than actual hits then it makes it very unenjoyable to watch.

I expect ST to get delayed a bit next spring.  The season will start pretty close to on time.      They will use the shortened ST as an example/reason to shorten in moving forward because they do not need all of that time.

Proposals I read where they want to increase the postseason?  My Lord, if they do that then they HAVE to scale back to 140 games.

I think the big question is whether Ohtani has enough support in states to become president. If he was eligible under any circumstance, that is. Miggy was the combo breaker to keep him from owning the west/SW coast. And the Mondesi/Riley duo kept him from having the entire southern coast and SE coasts.

Also, virtually every state follows a current player the most, but Montana is there with Hammerin' Hank. That's kind of weird in itself that a state's most popular is a guy who's currently dead and hadn't played in many decades. Double (or triple, or quadruple) that for Tennessee and Shoeless Joe and give it to North Dakota on a lesser level for Barry Bonds.

Also also, LOL at the Rockies. A very recently former player for them is #1 in Wyoming, but in Colorado, it's KC's Whit Merrifield.

Good catch with the Arenado/Merrifield

My searches this past year would definitely have been Ohtani, DeGrom and Beiber (especially before injury).

Mine were all over the place as many would guess….depending on the argument/debate I’m in on RedsZone/twitter etc, probably Kyle Farmer for me lol

Mine were probably random Pirate call-ups to see if they were legit minor league players or if they'd hit another new low and were filling out their roster with Walmart greeters and fast food drive-thru workers.

Oh, I was all over the place. I look up guys daily. But Ohtani was almost 3x a week. DeGrom and Beiber were each start.

Gimme universal DH.

Ban the DH altogether; let's play real baseball.

Many blame the pitchers, but the problem is the batters stepping out of the box after  e v e r y  s i n g l e  p i t c h  to adjust their gear which is total bs.  Get in the box, stay in the box, and play the game.
