That one definitely surprised me. Looks like LIV somehow won despite being so buried on TV that it was near-impossible to GAF about their stuff. And makes the PGA commish look like an absolute clown. Dude fucking cites 9/11 as a reason to not back LIV and then agrees to merge with them because $$$. Meanwhile, all the LIV guys made major money for doing shorter tournaments barely anyone cared about.

I’d be so pissed if I passed up that money only for the tour to cave 2 yrs later.

No more moral high-ground. Waayyy less money. Talk about a kick in the nuts.

Top current PGA players should be compensated for this, or they are independent contractors, correct?

Form your own tour of the top 40 players then keep that $$$, that's who everyone wants to watch, PGA screwed them, screw them back.

PGA left its big name defenders out in the breeze.  Pretty weak.  What about the moral high ground?

I think that some nasty stuff came out during the discovery phase of the lawsuits. The only way for the PGA Tour to keep it quiet was to settle. Rory, Tiger, and the other top pros who turned down massive amounts of easy money have to be beyond pissed right now.

On the funny side of it, Brandel Chamblee and Eamon Lynch have to be devastated. I will enjoy that.

PGA may have held the upper hand from a legal perspective, but they did not have the funds to outlast the continuous barrage of ongoing legal fees and potential adverse outcomes.  While the 'game of golf' may ultimately benefit, there is no way to sugarcoat the apparent hypocrisy.  Hopefully the deal at least contains a clause that says Greg Norman is out.

The equipment is so much better than many years ago.

I know in 1990 or 1991 our district golf course that was 246-254 depending on where the tees were set. I could smoke a 3 wood (Golden Bear lol) or easy swing driver (driver was the smart play)

I feel like this 290 33 years later is similar but you know Rory and others will be hitting 3 iron or 5 wood, which I feel is the club they would’ve hit on that par 3 I am speaking of in 1990.

Neimann from a long(er) shot. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the top-4 (Brooks, Rory, Rahm, Scheffler) -- I wont be shocked if they finish 1, 2, 3, 4 or all miss the cut.
