Hurdle gets the scapegoat treatment, while Cunt-ington stays and Nutting still owns the team. Hurdle wasn't always the best manager, often made bizarre decisions and played mediocre vets over potential prospects in meaningless situations too much for my liking (IMO, a good manager for a good team, but not so much for a bad one), but the situation the team is in is far more on those above him than him. The lack of payroll in comparison to other teams is on the cheap-ass owner and a couple stupid trades (Hey, Tampa Bay...YOU'RE WELCOME!!!) and the mere fact that the organization as a whole has been abysmal in developing pitchers over the past few years, with Cole, Morton and Glasnow not wasting much time in going from mediocre/stagnant to bad with Pittsburgh to being very good at other places.
Maybe there will be improvement with Bannister (assuming he's the pick) at the helm, but with the apathy and incompetence above him, unless something changes there, it's hard to be overly optimistic about the near future.
