I have a hereditary disease called Anylosing Spondylitis...where my spine joints are literally fusing together. No cure, but is treatment. Unfortunately it took them 9+ months to diagnose. So that’s an easy answer.

Aside from that:

  • boxers break of wrist defending my HS Girls honor (lol at me).
  • Slide tackle in a pickup game (aka, no shinguards), took my skin off my shin right down to the bone being exposed. Hurt like a bitch cause it was my driving leg as I drove myself to the ER.
  • Turf toe...and to think, I used to make fun of pro athletes.
  • High school I jumped to block a clearance from a keeper. Ball hit me where no man wants. Direct shot. I basically crawled to the porta-John and puked up some blood.

Reading through your sports pains I now recall being the slow pitch pitcher because everyone on my team deemed themselves unable/unworthy...so I pitched and jumped off the mound basically in everyone’s way so the ball would go to me....well the lefty that was playing college football was up and I pitched him to where I thought he’d hit it toward 2nd baseman and I go quickly to that direction as ball is heading towards plate and from 45 feet away he missles one (guessing 100-110 mph) off my inner thigh....infielders thought it went through my leg. I thought ball was stuck into my leg but it was the  immediate softball size bulge on my thigh. The blinding pain was just maybe a minute but it hurt the rest of the night and my inner thigh was black and purple all summer.

I went a couple years with random foot pain that was inexplicable (no injury)  and each time I couldn’t even put pressure on my foot. Dr told me it’s behaving like gout but I was too young for it.  They did a blood test and my uric acid levels were off the charts. It runs in my family though.

I got a similar story, started having gout attacks around 23 years old.

Doctor told me I was too young...

^^^ It happened when I was 41, complete recovery took 13 months.

Had that happen to me, too.........amazingly...... at the age of 41

I was playing basketball in the Y over 40 league.....I pushed off on my right leg to make a move, and “snap”...... it felt like someone had thrown a baseball into my calf.

It wasn’t  a complete tear, but after a six week casting, it took another year to heal up.  My doctor told me to be careful what I do because my left leg could go, too.

And that was the end of my sports playing days.

Thanks for posting that.  My wife deals with this and it’s interesting that you say it’s hereditary.

I had this as and this shit sucks more than most people think.  They need rebrand the name, because  it comes off as a little booboo injury from turf.  I always wondered why athletes needed weeks to recover (including playing Madden lol) from it until I got it.

Motorcycle accident. Thankfully, I survived it. Had a lady pull out in front of me as I had just exited a parking lot but was still going about 35-40 MPH.

She turned in front of me and it was game over. I went flying across the intersection. Helmet saved my life but ended up with:

- 2 completely fractured/shattered wrists (cool scars though)

- scars and scrapes up my inner thighs to my junk. The bike had collapsed and I must have braced from impact/after impact and my legs got it

- 1 week stay in the hospital, bed ridden for 4-5 days

- catheter stuck in me....I hated that part lol

Quite honestly, I am very lucky it was only that. Could've been a lot worse.

Exposed root in a tooth

This.  It was a 10/10.  Kidney stone was a 6/10 compared to this.

Barotrauma after a flight once was an 9/10

Nope lol. That did it for me. Although, I'd be lying if I said I don't get tempted...especially this time of the year.

(Also, the lady who f**cking hit me had no insurance. So I really got the short end of the stick)

Just curious.  I'm not a rider.  But I wonder about what riders do if they've had an accident like yours.  I can see it being very difficult to get back on the bike.

WTH, she didn't have insurance!?  Did your insurance sue her?

Yes. But she was rather "poor". No real assets or anything to go after. They may have tried to garnish some wages, but I can't totally recall. It has been nearly 10 years now.

I have a tendency to get stingers in my neck when going up for dunks or layups in basketball, even with no defender. The stinger isn't painful, but I always end up with a stiff neck for a few days. Occasionally, the pain from moving in the wrong direction while I'm sleeping after that is an 8/10. I've been lucky to have experienced nothing more serious.
