Seems like stare would be a good starter word.

I typically use House. Get 3 vowels and an S. But every so often I try to eliminate the IGHT words and go Might to start.

I like house - will try tff he a.  I’ve been using static as my opening word.

I almost used start because it had str and a vowel but two t’s seemed like a waste of a letter in first word

So I am thinking more like routs, etc

I usually use risen as my first word, but thought of arise today too, which gets the 3 main vowels and 2 of the more common consonants.

Stare? Replaces the second T with an E; seems like a winner.

Stare is what I think I started with yesterday or today, I can't remember. Its a good one I think.

I like word puzzles like this as I am not typically that good at anything "language arts" related (lowest score by far on ACT back 25 years ago). So it keeps my mind "working" on things it isn't that good at. Which is also why I like to read.

A good strategy.  I try to do that with things that require concentration on detail.  I think I'm a bit ADD and games or puzzles like that require me to force some focus.  I think of it like training a muscle.

Same, doesn’t hurt that there are complete genres of books in β€œnerdy” fields like Sci Fi, no one said I had to read Henry David Thoreau.
