Wisdom teeth

I had my wisdom teeth pulled today. I was impressed with how fast it went. I was only in the building 10 mins at the most and that includes checking in.

Who else has had their's removed and how long did it take you to get back to eating normally?

I had mine pulled back in high school. They did one side at a time so I could chew on one side of my mouth. I'm not sure how long it was between each visit, but they were quick procedures.

Had mine out about age 21. All 4 cut out...wife says I had some funny moments afterwards.

Went to work that evening....sneezed, nearly died.

If they had you in and out in 10 minutes, please find a new orthodontist.

I found it odd that it was over so quickly as well, but they numbed me up, I didn't feel anything but pressure and I'm not really in much pain now. Are you assuming they half assed it and I'll run into issues? How long does it usually take?

No clue how long I was there, they put me under. This was back in HS, I was maybe 17(?). I was fine by the evening, 2 days later I felt 100% back to normal. NBD.

Got them out when I was a freshmen in high school. Only took a few days to recover. I certainly have never heard of it being a ten minute procedure, though. Nothing against the OP but I actually don't believe it.

It's ok. I have heard that a few times including from my dad. Ha

They typically put you under, so at least a few hours. If they numbed it, that takes at least 15-20 (per side) minutes to take effect to the point they can do the surgery without you feeling it.

Ah, I don't know. I was hoping to be put under but it was just a local. I didn't feel anything but pressure. I have very little pain. I guess I will have to wait and see if they did a half assed job or not, but for now I think it went fine. I just looked at my call log because I had to call the person who took me (I didn't know if I was going under or not, so I got a ride) and I called them at 1:48. My appt was at 1:30 and I got in a few mins after 1:30, so it may have been 15 mins total, but still.

Either way, I was just looking for potential recovery times. I'm a picky eater and jello and pudding will get old quick.

Had them out when I was 17. Quick and not too painful but I had a weird reaction to the anesthesia and my face swelled up like a basketball. I looked ridiculous for the next 5 days.

Mine were impacted, and the worst part was the numbness on half my face for like 12 hours afterward (oddly very difficult to try to drink when you can't feel your tongue or lips). The stitches caused my a good bit of discomfort, and I think I had those for 2 weeks.

As for how long it took, I don't remember. But I recently had a filling replaced, and my dentist waited 15 minutes just for the local to take effect.

Had my top two pulled same day, walked 18 afterwards at the GC, drinking beer and spitting blood the entire way. If the Dentist can grab hold of your teeth with his fancy pliers, you're good to go.

I had all 5 of them out at 18. Had an extra one in the upper row. All of them impacted, so a lot of cutting and stitches. Had a bloody nose for week for the extra one, so close to the sinuses. And a cyst around a lower one, benign.

I had general anesthesia, was in the hospital for 3 days. Couldn't have pain meds, miserable first night. Ate baby food for two weeks. One corner kept getting infected, turned out there were tooth and bone fragments inside the "pocket".

I wish mine had been 15 minutes with some "pressure" :)

Got them out in college. Maybe all, maybe some; don't remember the details. Overall, it was pretty routine. I was out of it most of that day (apparently being knocked out with anesthetic isn't something I can bounce back from), but didn't have pain for too long. Only regret was I was living at home; if not for the folks, I could have made some $$$ selling off the Vikes, since I only needed them for the initial day of the procedure and they gave me enough for a few days or a week or so, I think.

I still have mine. Wish I didn't. I have enough room for them, and they're not impacted, but because I can't really reach behind them to brush, I've gotten cavities in three of them over the years, which has led to them breaking and slowly getting smaller and smaller from chips coming off.
