I had an Accord for about 3 years or so, and it blew my mind every time.
posted by brutus161Most people know that interstates are numbered so that odd numbers move North/South and even numbers move East/West, but did you know that the interstate number itself gives you more information? Odd-numbered interstates are numbered by the approximate percentage of the United States that is West of it and even-numbered ones are numbered by the approximate amount of the United States that is South of it. The only real exception to this rule is I-99 in Pennsylvania.
On top of all that the 3 digit ones are bypasses around cities, and Alaska's all start with "A" rather than a number, yet they are still called "interstate" even though they stay in Alaska.

I posted this before, but even numbered bypasses rejoin the interstate. odd numbered are branches that do not. A few exceptions apply.

That is one I did not know, that the even numbered vs odd numbered and which ones connect. And here I thought I was very well educated on the interstate highway system. Nice bit of information laley.

270 in CO is one of the exceptions
they should just rename that road because it doesn't bypass anything.
