I think the new reality emerging in today's political climate is if you want to run for POTUS, you better not live or work in NY, IL, CA, TX or FL if you're the wrong party.

True. It is a shame when a person who has lived his entire life living the "rich person; insulated from everything due to money" set of  justice has to actually deal with the "normal person; might get fucked over or saved just because of random peoples' whims" set of justice.

My main hope that likely won't come close to being fulfilled would be that this would remove one of the addled geriatrics from the ballot with the possibility of replacing him with someone more capable, considering that the main "advantage" both Biden and Trump have is that the other is their opponent. But with that not likely to happen because of how the general rule of DC is to circle the wagons around "their guys" regardless of how apathetic the general public grows to all this shit.

So, I'll just laugh about how you've spent about the entire life of this site posting on a wish-fulfillment thread I think you created about how "heads will roll" any day concerning all the Obamas, Clintons and other people you look at as political adversaries and all the stuff they'll get prosecuted for...and, well, ENJOY!

Thank you for so succinctly making my point.

I’ve been enjoying the meltdowns.

When will the GOP wise up and just say fuck this guy?

How much did you fork over? I was asking about the GOP.

I know you’re in it for life.

Supposedly 30% were new donors. I get you hate Trump, but not sure why you’re discounting the anger people have at this sham. (And no, I would never donate to a political campaign. I’d rather light bills on fire than donate to any of those fucks).

So everyone on the left is happy and everyone on the right says it’s a sham and a kangaroo court.

Shocking.  Who would have ever guessed this would be the outcome?

It's sad, if not a little bizarre, that everyone shitting themselves over Trump being a "threat to democracy" turn a blind eye to the attacks on Democracy from the left.

And I say that with the GA case being fully legit, and if it were up to me, disqualifying.  But the reason it's not is because the founding fathers actually did anticipate this, and decided the courts will not circumvent the will of the people.

Even to the extent that courts can create obstacles, you still have the legislature and even constitutional amendments to overrule them.  Yet we see over and over that the Democrats aren't willing to work within this framework, preferring to stack the courts to impose their will unilaterally.

As much as I loathe Trump, I honestly believe the Democrats are a bigger threat.  We saw Trump large contained, some would say obstructed, and even marginalized and ultimately voted out and leaving office...but somehow he's going to become a dictator or POTUS for life?!?  It's nothing but fearmongering so you won't notice the authoritarian push coming from the left.

I think a fair number of people who are neither left nor right think this was a sham.  Campaign finance violations are almost always dealt with fines, and prior to this I don't believe EVER prosecuted at the state level.  Like I said, Hillary did basically the same thing and was charged only with an $8k fine.

So not just a sham, but a politically targeted sham.  Which, unfortunately, this brain dead country is fully incapable of acknowledging until it happens to their candidate.  The payback from Republicans will be brutal, and if that doesn't tear the country apart, the subsequent Democrat revenge almost certainly will.  Someone is going to have to eventually be an adult and say enough is enough, or we definitely are doomed.

You'd be surprised, if not quite shocked, at how many on the left hate what the Dems are doing. They are well aware that there is a high probability that they are next since they are anti establishment, too.

What people on this site have the habit of doing is conflating anything people say against the Dems as being for Trump. There is a clear absence of any critical or comparative thought with all this mess.

Dems today: how dare you attack the justice system.

Dems 2 days ago: Alito flew a flag (that we made up is bad) on his house! He must recuse and the court is illegitimate!

They haven't realized yet that about 2/3 of the country sees through that and doesn't approve.  It's why Trump got elected the first time, and may very well again.  The only reason it's close is for many people Trump isn't a better option.

Of course, there's also the fact that Republican primary voters have rejected better candidates in 2 cycles now.  Other candidates haven't figured out yet how to attack the left like Trump without coming across as unhinged, like Trump.  That was Desantis' mistake - he had the right policies, but he needed to be himself instead of channeling a clearly pretend imitation of the Orange Man.  And Haley forgot the "fight" part while trying to be a voice of reason and failing to distinguish herself from the uni-party establishment crowd.

If it was all of it it still wouldn't match what Biden Inc. has received from Ukraine, China, Romania and Russia.

If a big part of my poli-argument was based on inflation and everything costing more and there I was throwing money at opposing politicians to "support" them, that kind of ties into the "fool and money are soon parted" deal.

I think a fair number of people also realize most campaign finance violations still pertain to the campaign like Hillary’s opposition research did, and not hush money to porn stars, right?  Not that what Hillary’s campaign did was right, but most reasonable people can discern a difference.
