Everyone loses something as they get older. I'd still let Warren Buffett manage my money over me, but he can't possibly be as sharp and energized as when he was younger..
I think the dirty little secret is these people don't actually do that much (but their 24-yr old law school aides do). Horse-trading when both parties know they'll get everything they want doesn't actually require any skill.

Agreed. My MIL is in an assisted living community. When I visit her, the lobby reminds me of our political leaders.
