My grandmother went on a AAA trip up the east coast when she was around 80 years old. She took her old school camera and when she returned home we went to visit her. She had us look at her pictures because something was wrong. I looked at 24 pictures....23 were pictures of her own eye and the other was a picture of what looked like a telephone pole at close range but it was just her camera strap. So basically she had a picture of her eye in Hartford a picture of her eye on Providence a picture of her eye  in DC etc.

Not what you were wanting but hopefully cheers you up lol

My daughter has only flown 2x....the last time she got stuck in Atlanta airport and power was out for 16 hours and they weren’t allowed to leave. Basically completely dark for 11 of the hours.

Not the worst story in the world. Flying to germany. Ten minutes after takeoff I spilled a full glass of tomato juice all over myself.

Nothing too bad has happened to me, but a creepy guy sat next to my friend on a plane from Akron to Orlando (she was sitting in the middle seat and I was in the window seat) and sexually harassed her the entire time and also sexually assaulted her at one point. So that was fun.

Yes, she asked him to stop. No, he didn't stop.

I assume she reported this to the flight attendant, who in turn told the pilot, who then radioed ahead and had the authorities waiting to arrest this perv at the gate when you landed?

I was at a bachelor party in Cincy during SB weekend.  My flight back to DC was around 130PM that Sunday out of CVG.  It was supposed to snow, but nothing too terrible (it did snow and it wasn't terrible).  I wake up 730AM on Sunday very dehydrated and hungover.  I look at my phone and notice my flight was cancelled and American Airlines took it upon themselves to schedule another flight which was on Monday at 6 fucking PM.  I found a flight that left CVG at 910AM and connected thru Chicago.  The Chicago flight was departing at 330PM (central time) to DC.  I hate non direct flights, but it was better than waiting until Monday night.  I tried to change the flight on my app, but it said I had to fucking do it in person.  I scrambled to pack the rest of my shit and get an uber to the airport.  I get to the airport just in time to board.  Once I board the plane, of course it is delayed to take off and we wait 2 hours to take off while sitting on the plane.  At this point I haven't even had a drink of water.  The plane takes off and the only drink of water I had was from the service on the plane.  Since the flight was delayed I get to Chicago and barely have time to make it to the next flight.  I had to run across terminals to get to my gate and essentially be the last person to board the plane.  It was snowing pretty heavily in Chicago and apparently the tower made the decision to only use one runway for taking off.  We waited nearly THREE fucking hours to take off.  For whatever reason the tower started letting planes that we were originally ahead of take off before us.  The pilot announced his frustration and also reminded us if we hit three hours per regulations we will have to go back to the gate and re-board. My phone also died while waiting to take off and I had no way of updating my fiance or anybody of my status.  Thankfully the plane finally took off and I got home 5 minutes before kickoff.  The entire day I was dehydrated, hungover, and running on about 16 ounces of water at most.  I was very pissed.  I was also so exhausted that I passed out during the SB and probably saw 5 plays at most.

Also one time flying from JFK > IAD it was VERY windy and we were on one of those shitty small planes where you can't even fit your carry.  I am not one to get scared during flights, but the turbulence from start to finish was the type of turbulence where it comes out of nowhere and your heart drops in your stomach.  The pilot tried to land in DC three times and aborted mission all three times.  All three times he was probably 20-100 feet from the ground. You could tell most people on the plane were visibly feeling nauseous and/or anxious.  I was trying to pretend I wasn't nervous, but apparently I had my hand on my fiance's leg and my palms sweated thru her jeans lol.  The pilot eventually landed on the 4th try.  He earned his paycheck that flight, but I never want to have that feeling on a flight again.  I legitimately thought this could be it.

Not this time. We didn't have time to wait at the airport after the flight. We had a tight schedule that day.

Honestly, if women reported it every time a man harassed us or touched us inappropriately, we'd be talking to the police weekly. I didn't call the authorities on the man who grabbed me around my waist and put his hands under my shirt on Saturday (this was right after he told me his wife was on her way to pick him up from the bar). I told him to let me go, and that he shouldn't touch women without their permission. Will he listen? No. But this is life for most women.

Anyway, back to shitty travel stories.

Spent 16 hours in JFK's international terminal. Didn't realize my connecting flight home was the next day. This was after 6 months in Europe and a 2 day send off bender. I was unable to reactivate my US cell phone to contact my only friend in NYC at the time, turns out he was out of town anyway. Pissed off at myself for being an idiot, punishment was waiting it out in the airport instead of getting a hotel. It was an odd experience.

My dad when he picked me up at the airport in Pittsburgh. "Wow, you look like shit." lol

Alright I’ll pony up and tell mine. Supposed to be on my honeymoon now (we delayed going for a few months) in Sweden.

Get to airport with a couple of hours before our fly, go to get our tickets. The attendant informed me that there is a problem with our passports. The issue? My passport expires in late October. We come back in July. Apparently Sweden requires your passport be valid for 6 months after your stay (January in this case). I’ve never heard of this. Got to spend yesterday (and now today)  at the passport agency in the fbi building trying to get an emergency passport renewal.

Im lucky and live near one. Most ppl do not and would be fucked. All in all, assuming I can get on my flight that I scheduled for tonight, this ordeal will cost me close to $3,500 extra dollars.

Airlines basically told me to go post on JJ huddle when I asked for my money back.

I ran into that two years ago. France is the same. I had less than 6 months left. Luckily my friend just went through a similar ordeal to you.

I had to expedite the renewal process to get it in time for an extra $60.

That's very shitty and sorry to hear that.  I heard a similar story to this for my brother's friend.  Definitely be fortunate you have access to an office that can expedite passports.

Captain hindsight here, but most European countries do this.  We went to Amsterdam back in February and our passports were expiring 7-8 months after our return to the states.  We just went ahead and got our new passports just to not be fucked over.  Are you going to lose a day of your vacation or were you able shift your schedule to keep the same amount of travel time?

From my experience, the countries where you have to purchase a visa don't have this requirement.  Probably because it defeats the purporse after that point. The countries that don't require a visa normally have the 6 month requirement.

First time on a plane I went down to Houston. Trip was uneventful. I was pretty freaked about getting in a plane to begin with. The way back was a different story. Coming out of Houston there was a nasty thunderstorm and the plane was rocking from side to side. I'm in the second to last row in the plane and I'm pretty nervous. There's a very elderly lady behind me who starts screaming in my ear "oh my god, we're all going to die !!!" I turned around, pretty much scared shitless, and told her "lady if you don't stfu you ARE going to die."

Been on one plane since. Not a fan.

Brutal. A co-worker's sister and her family just experienced this. Last minute trip to somewhere in the Caribbean or Central America, child's passport expired too soon for destination country to allow them in, vacation cancelled, all money spent lost.

Yeah it’s a common thing, I was just completely unaware. No site or airlines even mentioned it during checkout. Thought I was totally fine. Def a learning experience.

Def lost yesterday, we’ll see if I’m able to fly tonight. Thoughts & prayers please.
