Random Travel Thread

Beach vacation thread got me thinking about other travel plans. 

Where is everyone going/ have been this summer? 

Wife and I are doing the around Ohio and surrounding areas trip this summer. We plan on visiting doing several long weekends in several cities to see either a baseball game or just hang out: Cincy, Cleveland, Detroit, and Pitt. If we can get to it, some time in Cedar Point and/ or Kings Island.

We have been exploring numerous places in Columbus the last month or so, checking out a Clippers game, plan on seeing a Crew game soon. 

It has been some years since we visited any of those cities, and that now things are back open, good time to visit and see some baseball/ explore. 

I'm going to Orlando next week, but it's for work.

Flying back to Ohio end of August to see family. Haven’t been back in around 2 years. Taking the 3.5 year old and almost 2 year old. Hope it isn’t a disaster. We thought about driving but that sounds even worse, as a 3 hour drive is already terrible.

Me Since Memorial Day:

Key West x2 (fishing and a funeral for my fishing buddy who died of Covid)

Charleston WV (work)

Marietta (hay - 1st cut)

Edinboro PA (soccer tournament)

Dayton (wedding)

Wife Since Memorial Day:

Gettysburg (girls trip)

Marietta (bridal shower)

Charleston (helping her sister move)

Edinboro PA (Soccer tournament, but added a lake trip afterwords while i went to the wedding)

Family Upcoming:

Columbus (golf trip for me, girls trip for her 4th of July party for both)

Table Rock Lake (family vacation)

Nags head (I think, some beach, somewhere for sure)

Couple day trips  (NEPA mountains/Delaware river Valley in NY)

Me and the wife have a wedding in Belfast Ireland in September but no kids.

I also have a fishing trip planned in October to Venice LA and 2 golf tournaments (1 in OKC, 1 in Denver) in September.

Just did the Asturias and Basque regions in Spain for two weeks.

Waco for a day or weekend trip haven’t decided 

Weekend in KC for a wedding 

Would love to add a cruise or Caribbean trip but May end up back in Vegas if Covid is still hurting travel

September

Wife and me........Virginia  5 days

October

Wife, Daughter, Daughter in Law, Sister in Law.........Hawaii  5 days

Me......Los Angeles 5 days

Bluff, Utah in 3 weeks, 4 day river float.

Working on an extended Mexico trip in the fall.

Oahu was cool. I’d go back and visit a different island.

Going to St. Louis next month for several days. Suppose to be good place to take kids. I’ve never been. Definitely want to go up in the Arch and visit Mark Twain national forest. We’re kind of stuck in no man’s land with the ages of our kids (3 and 7.) 

Wife and I are going to Roque Bluffs, Maine in September for our 20th.  Got a Vrbo right on the ocean way up north, close to Canada in a secluded, wooded area.

Going to St. Louis next month for several days. Suppose to be good place to take kids. I’ve never been. Definitely want to go up in the Arch and visit Mark Twain national forest. We’re kind of stuck in no man’s land with the ages of our kids (3 and 7.) 

Laumeier Sculpture Park might be interesting for the older one. If nothing else, it's a big open area that you could use to run some energy out of both of them.

Flights are back to dumb prices. It's annoying.

Denver to NYC round trip $350ish+. That used to be around $220.

Have you been to bridge park in Dublin or the new pins at Easton? Both are fun. 

We are going to Anna Marie island in august based upon a friends recommendation, gonna take a boat down to Miami one of the days

I have not been to the Dublin $22 Million Bridge Park. I may check out just to see that expense ass bridge. Funny story. A few years ago, I was with my former heavy civil construction firm in a meeting with Kokosing, who built the thing. They put the bridge up as an example of a highlighted project and it just said Ohio. I said Oh, that has to be Dublin cause no other Ohio city is paying $22M for a bridge that only carries walkers. They did not know I was from Ohio. They laughed and said yeah. I also know the engineers who designed it. 

We have been to Easton several times, just not to pins. We did Lego Land with the 5 year old nephew....that was exhausting and fun.
