Other than it's complete unlikelihood, of course.

or it could be from the fact that a vast majority of the wealth and power comes from a concentrated portion of the state, resulting in everything else getting neglected.

What's the line of thinking on this?  Silicon Valley?  Hollywood?

Not to mention all the smug self-importance.

New Cali gets all the food.

And cannabis. And natural beauty. And San Diego. I think New Cali would do just fine on its own.

I still like the Mike Polk succession plan. I'd vote for it.

Cities

New California wouldn’t be too bad with San Diego and San Jose. Not to mention old California has 2 cities that went bankrupt and one very close to it. Unless I’m looking at the map incorrectly.

Id also be wary of banking on the tech companies.

Two comments:

1) Even just 2 more Senate seats (likely red) is a shitstorm that will never be agreed on, but possibly displace guns and abortion as the two biggest do-nothing wedge issues in politics.....a "six state" solution is even more untenable for the same reason

2) Also a huge pension liability issue....and one wonders if the rest of IL, for example, wouldn't want to carve out Chicago and it's burbs.  Same for NY.

Obviously a concentration and critical mass in Silicon Valley.....but Austin, Chicago and some other cities have been very successful at luring existing and start-up tech companies.
