posted by Laley23As I posted in the other thread, I’ve been furloughed from my job while keeping 100% health coverage. But no paychecks until we are brought back in full-time with sports.
So, I was instructed to file for unemployment in IL because they pay my unemployment tax to IL. But when I got to the submit claim page, the estimates were $0. Can’t make it into office (even if they are open) and phone is busy, so I submitted anyway.
Wondering if anyone has experienced this?
Might depend on whether Illinois requires the employer to submit individual wage data with each quarterly return. In Ohio (since at least the last 6 years) the employer submits individual employee wage data along with their corporate quarterly return and UC tax payment. Before that, when employers only reported quarterly totals with their returns, the employer only submitted individual wage data for an employee when that employee was laid off and filed for UC. So maybe in Illinois it still works that way ……meaning your employer will now be notified that you filed for UC and the state will ask them for your wage data now to determine your benefit. Not sure, but a possibility.
