Now that we're all getting old...

I started taking a multivitamin recently. Also 600mg of NAC.

What is everyone else taking?

C, D3, E, Turmeric, Fish Oil, Zinc, probiotic, magnesium...there's more. Roughly about 10-12 pills per morning.

I don't take any. I planned on it, but my sister who's a doctor said it's just expensive urine. So I don't.

Maybe. It's $8.50 for 240 days worth of the multivitamin.

None. I currently test in the average/good/whatever range for everything in the yearly bloodwork. I am sure that wont last forever, although my diet has gotten much better the older I have gotten, so maybe.

Most vitamins are a waste,  they only contain water soluble Vit. That end up in your urine.  If you eat good they are in almost all foods.

If you want a lot of everything,  go with bariatric vitamins and take a lower dose.

It's hard to find since the FDA changed their opinion on it.

Yeah, as long blood work is good, no reason to take any.

On doctor's advice, I take 5500 IU of vitamin D3 (Dosoquin), with added vitamin K2.  Apparently, too much vitamin D causes calcium to go into the bloodstream and get deposited where you don't want it, like cardiac muscle.  The K2 prevents that.

Two years ago my bloodwork came back "severely deficient" for Vit D.  My family doc said a good diet doesn't give you enough if you're not out in the sun, and I've avoided it for a long time.  18 months after starting the Dosoquin, I tested right in the middle of the "normal" range.

Also take a magnesium and a B6 supplement each evening, which I can confirm helps my sleep quality.

Harumph - never heard of NAC before.  Interesting.

We use NAC to treat self-injurious behavior in kids with developmental disorders (think scratching and punching yourself, not cutting). It seems to be pretty effective. Thought to inhibit excitatory glutamatergic activation.

If you need vitamin D and dose it correctly, you do not need other supplements to keep it from depositing in inappropriate places.

If you ever want to look up the published evidence for treating a medical condition or illness with a supplement, I have access to the Natural Medicines Database, which compiles and analyzes the medical literature related to such use. Happy to look into and summarize anything.

I don't take any supplements.
